LIZZIE HEARD MUTTERING FROM EACH group as they made their way back down the passage from the Shrieking Shack to the Whomping Willow, but she was just trying to focus on her own breathing. She was trying to register in her brain everything that had happened. That she had an uncle who was Sirius Black, the infamous escapee of Azkaban. That her own father had lied to her for her whole life, and the rest of her family about who he was. His name was actually Octans Black, a Squib, who ran away from his family in fear of what they might do to him. Lizzie couldn't even begin to understand what emotion she was feeling, if she was angry, if she was betrayed, if she was sad. None of it made sense. And it made it all seem even crazier that she had been searching for this niece and nephew for the past seven months, and the answer had turned out to be right in front of her. She and Elijah were the niece and nephew of Sirius Black.

"Eliza," Hermione's voice spoke from behind her and her head snapped back to the noise, blinking rapidly as if she had just been plunged into bright light. "Hey... Are you okay?"

"I don't know," Lizzie replied honestly, slowing her pace down to walk along with Hermione. Lupin was walking with Peter, keeping him close to him with his wand. Sirius was ahead, holding up Ron with Harry, the red-headed boy's leg dragging along, still broken. "I mean, basically my whole life has been a lie, so... That's great."
