DARKNESS ENVELOPED THE QUIET DORM room up in the high Gryffindor tower, not even a small lamp could be seen through the clouded-up windows. Harry sat with his covers up to his chest, leaning his back on his pillows while the curtains around his bed waved in the cold breeze drifting in from the open pane on the other side of the room. His wand was raised to the Marauder's Map sitting open against his knees, lumos shining from the tip of the stick. His eyes followed the names walking around: the professors searching the hallways for any gone-astray students; ghosts floating across corridors for something to do in the dead of night; students in their common rooms, sleeping or studying.

Somehow, to Harry, watching people from this far away was almost freeing. For the last three years he had been suffocated by a reputation he had never asked for, one that came with a tragedy he could barely even remember, but now, he could be just as present without all the hassle of keeping up with the attention. The map gave him some peace and quiet, even if he did have to look at it alone and mostly in the dark. And even if all of that sounded stupid, there could also be the reason of it just being a fun little hobby.

What, with everything going on with Sirius Black and what Lizzie was going through, Harry realised that he did need some time alone. Just to think. Night time was that time for him, and he sat in his bed with a chocolate bar on his bedside table, the last embers from the small fireplace in the middle of the dormitory burning out with a low sizzle.
