"I STILL THINK THIS WHOLE THING ISGOING to be awful,” Hermione told them as they sat around one corner of the Great Hall, the tables sitting around the edges of it still, the Goblet of Fire standing in the middle of the room. All the students from each school were milling around, awaiting the entrance ceremony for each of the participants. “Putting seventeen year olds into a competition of strength and agility will never end well.”
“Yeah, but it’ll be fun to watch,” Ron argued, craning his neck until he could see into the Durmstrang section. “Do you think Krum’s been working out?”
“You’re not helping Lizzie’s theory, mate,” Harry nudged him, and Ron sat back in his seat quickly. “But, yeah, gossip from Lavender, Parvati and Padma tells me he’s been taking jogs around the lake… twice a day.”
“That seems… intense,” Lizzie frowned, seeing Hermione craning her own neck over to the Durmstrang section and swallowing down her feelings once more. “Why does Lavender, Parvati and Padma know about that?”
“I think you could guess,” Hermione mumbled, seeming slightly distracted.
“Sit down, please!” Dumbledore called to the Great Hall, everyone hushing up quickly and sitting down wherever they could find a space. “Now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The champion selection.”
