[Moon's pov]

"Hey,"
His soft voice wakes me up again.
"You feeling any better?"
I don't answer.
Just tip my head slightly forward.
And mumble something that could be interpreted as a yes.
Or a no.
Depending how you heard it.

He fiddles with a button lying on the sofa.
"Well, uh, I saved some food for you."
He continues pulling at the now loose button.
"I'll leave it here."
The button string is slowly dismembered by his anxious hands.
"Come check on you later, ok?
The string, only minutes ago attaching the delicate button to the rough fabric of the sofa is now mangled and frayed.

The button falls to the floor.
Rolls in a circle
Until it spins on its side
And stops,
Falling sideways.

I shrug his arm off.
"Ok. Fine"

He stares back at me
Trying to read my face
Trying to read my eyes
Trying to read me,
Like a book
And see what's etched onto my tired paper.

Silence swallows him.
Unnaturally

And as he stands up
Before he stands up
His lips press against mine
Only for a second.
It feels like an illusion

Time
Stands
Still
For
A
Mere
Moment

Then he pulls away, leaving me alone in a room with only some cold tomato pasta as company.

Pasta my dammed anorexia is certainly going to leave me staring down at for the next few hours.

Counting.
