[EDITED, the chapter was incomplete earlier. You can read again, lol. Nothing change much, just the first half. Wattpad is srsly getting on my nerves.]
“Do we need to wear expensive suits to enter your father's house?” Riki asked his half-brother.
He finds it hard to breathe in a tight suit that Jay bought for him even though he has unbuttoned three buttons from the collar already.
The fact that it was the first time he agreed to meet them made him feel really nervous. What if he was right all this time? Jay's Dad—their Dad, was a selfish and strict human being who will never appreciate a disgrace and illegitimate child like Riki? He was just nothing compared to the original child sitting beside him.
“We're going to a formal party, act like a decent person and button up your collar, Riki,” Jay said.
The driver of the car looks at them from the mirror.
“It will be my first time going back to that place, but instead we are going straight to a formal party?” Riki asked, displeased.
If he only knew it would turn out like this, he shouldn't have made a promise with Sunoo. He prepared so hard to be able to meet Jay's parents, but he isn't prepared to be in an expensive social gathering.
“That was why,” Jay says.
“Eh?” Riki asked, confused. “Are they throwing parties every time you go back home?”
Jay didn't speak as he helped the younger fix his clothing. The car stopped perfectly in front of the grand hotel where this formal party is currently happening.
“The party is on the third floor. You are expected to enter the first door on the end of the hallway from the right. It leads to the backstage. Inform the lady guarding the stage entrance before you come up, so they can announce your arrival,” the driver smiled up to them.
“Thanks,” Jay replied before he opened the door and walked out.
“I'm seeing you for the first time, Sir Riki,” The driver spoke before Riki could open the door.
Riki didn't say anything as he walked out of the car and stood beside his half-brother. His heartbeat increases inside his chest.
“Relax, Riki, it's just a party,” Jay told him.
The older one held his hand as they both entered the grand hotel, some staff greeting both of them.
They entered the elevator and went up to the third floor just like the driver said. Jay led the way and Riki only followed nervously. His hands were sweating and he was a little embarrassed about the fact that Jay is holding one of it. Jay will probably tease him about this later on.
But that was not the problem. It's this stupid party where Riki knew that every visitor are their father's rich and respectable friends. Jay was probably known as an only child and Riki will only embarrass himself in front of everyone.
He was just no one. An illegitimate child who's—
Riki pulled his hand off Jay's grip when he realized they were about to go up the stage. The older one looked up at him worriedly.
“I can't g-go up,” Riki said, breathing in deep to calm himself.
“Finally, the long wait is over! Our special visitors for tonight have arrived! Let's have a little of our time to give the Park's heirs a round of applause, everyone!”
Riki turns around to leave as he hears the faint sound of people clapping from inside.
“Riki,” Jay grabbed his arms to stop him from leaving. “You promised to Sunoo that you'll meet them again, right?”
