"Are you sure this is the place?"

Niccolò squints, taking in the surroundings as he opens the door for the young brunette to step out of the car.

"My aunt brought me here when I was 9, as of I remember they are buried somewhere near a lake I suppose?"

It's weird. He thought. With no one around. Not even a single soul. The buildings looked like they were abandoned ages ago.

"Let's go then" Niccolò looks around scrunching his nose under the bright sun. Still unsure about the idea of wandering in a place with unnerving quiet.

He held his hand out for Caterina to step out, as they began to walk around. With his eyes moving everywhere taking into notice every little detail, they keep moving.

And so they kept walking in silence, looking for something they both knew didn't exist.

The gangster feels a sudden jerk in his arm. He turns around to see the brunette visibly shaking.

"What's wrong, baby?" He says as he rests his hands on the brunette's shoulders.

Caterina looks around before coming closer to Niccolo wrapping her fragile arms around his waist and resting her head on the grey-eyed man.

"Caterina.." Niccolò pulls her closer as he rubs her back, placing a light kiss on her head.

"I lied to you." She softly whispers.

"I know, princess."

Caterina looks up surprised upon hearing that. Confusion drew on her pretty face.

"Because your parents were never buried, their bodies were burnt, Caterina".

Saying that Caterina was shocked will definitely be an understatement, she couldn't process the fact that Niccolò came here in the middle of nowhere even though he was fully aware of her lie. Her eyes filled with questions as fresh tears brewed under her eyes.

"I know he is here, and he is not alone is he?" He mutters into her ears.

"I am sorry, I -"

"shh.. don't be sorry, I should be the one apologizing ... for tricking you into this Caterina."

"What do you mean-" she gasps "You sent Pierre to me. It was you who told him to say that!" Caterina was quivering.

"I should have told you, but I don't regret it, it would have been risky, with that man over your head constantly manipulating you."

"I am not being manipulated." The brunette hissed in anger.

"Of course you are, you even used to Tristano, Caterina. You know much he loved you."

"Tristano... what did you do to him?"

"Niccolo!" she pulls him down by his collar

"WHERE IS TRISTANO?!"

"He is dead, I killed him, that's what that man wanted you to do, didn't he? Get rid of TRISTANO!"

"NO! I was trying to save him!" She saw devastated. She was manipulating Tristano, yes. But she never wanted him dead.

"No no no it can't be true, he-"

Suddenly Caterina's ears went numb and the next moment she saw Niccolò lying on the floor clutching his thighs, growling in pain.

"Daddy's here, sweetheart" The brunette turned around as she recognised the man's voice.

"E-Enzo.."

"Lorenzo? " Niccolò gasps visibly taken back as he notices his brother, very much alive walking straight towards their direction with a revolver in his hand.
