Didn't smoke he but carried a lighter

Unlike life, the flames were brighter

A struggling past's terrible reminder

It had made him get used to danger

Was always himself against the world

Left behind at bottom as it unfurled

People he called family deserted him

Its glow sparked up life that was dim

It belonged to a certain chain smoker

Who since his birth he had called father

Passed away in an accident years ago

In his place, an old lighter had to glow

Flicked it on, play with its yellow flame

Hurts fingers a bit, for him just a game

Hold tightly as he looked off a window

Bright fire driving away night's shadow

He kept it close to his beating heart

Him and his lighter almost never apart

Took immense care, it never got lost

For without it he felt like a lone ghost

I partially got inspired by a show i recently watched to write this.

I hope everyone is doing well and taking good care of themselves
