Winter Poetry Contest 2022- Sixth Entry

Topic: Rame

Something thats chaotic and joyful at the same time.

Poem:

My school revealed the selected location

"This time, its a visit to the central Zoo!"

I tried to cook up an epic plan for evasion,

A Zoo? Why is it not an amusement park?

"It would be fun", my friends said, smiling

Let's take many photos and relish the trip.

As we witnessed tigers, giraffes, duckling,

I thought, this is much better than expected

After some sight seeing, we had our lunch,

At a dim lit fancy diner quite near the zoo.

At late morning, so it was more like brunch,

Chatted and had a really refreshing meal.

Had said that too soon for someone's liking,

At the twentieth minute of us sitting there,

There was someone in the diner screaming,

"A snake escaped zoo and is probably here!"

Sssssss! the sound of hissing was audible,

I turned steal a glance and gasped aloud!

It was staring at us, in vicinity of our table,

Ahhhhh! I heard my mates screaming out.

Zoo authorities caged it and took it away,

The poor thing was a non poisonous one.

But terrorized all who were there that day,

I remember vividly the screeches I heard.

We tried to enjoy later, but it was hard,

Witnesses got cold feet and were dazed.

After catching all of us diners off guard,

The snake returned safely, to glass box.

The incident has become a running joke,

Among everyone who saw it first hand.

The slimy green reptile had shocked us,

It's surprise arrival and exit were grand.

A rare incident I might remember forever,

"A tale of a snake's grand escape from zoo."

I shall be reminded of this snake whenever,

I visit that dim lit diner or central zoo again.
