Winter Poetry Contest 2022- Fifth Entry

Topic: The Colors of water

Water is colorless, but it takes up the reflection of anything its up against. The color of water is different when its cloudy, when it rains, when its sunny.

Poem:

Just like the flowing water that varies

It's colors according to the location

I can see me having a switch up too

It feels hard to explain this emotion

Water, gifted with no authentic color

Found in a variable variety of shades

I accept and reply a yes to everything

To seem alright, put on face a façade

Who am I? What really defines me?

I ask myself this question everyday

Am I like the wavering water that's

Blue, then green on a different day?

Other's change my mindset easily

The grimy greasy water turns grey

I stay in ignorance of their actions

To their charming words, I fall prey

In morning, the bright sun shines

This turns the water red or orange

People put a smile, I join them too

Mood undergoes a swift change?

Water near rivers is muddy brown

Like my mind when its distracted

Eaten up whole by my thoughts

Comfort is vehemently retracted

Just like flowing water that reflects

Contrasting colors on its surface

My emotions keep changing daily

Sometimes clearly visible on face
