Bad advice #9:

If you have OCD, the best way to get rid of compulsions is by adding a newer compulsion to compensate! That way, you won't have to do the more annoying one!

This idea is completely effective, and is how I got rid of my OCD! It totally didn't all come back at me at once, building a pile on top of me of even more compulsions!

With intrusive thoughts, the best way to get rid of those is by trying really hard to not think about those thoughts. Because of course if you focus really hard to not focus on something, it will help you not focus on it in the long run!
