Angel

I stood in a line of other angels who were like me: trained to be devil hunters with the intent of killing them after the blood they drank was drained from them, making them weak. Of course, these angels were not made from the very beginning, but after our numbers were being eradicated by the devils, we had to do something about it. So when we needed to make more angels, the higher ups wanted to create stronger and more agile angels who could take on the stronger devils that come into the mortal world. I was one of those angels who was the first group to be created with that intent. However, it took an immense amount of training to get to where we are now. So many trial and error and mock fights caused our numbers to dwindle as those who were brought in and taught rather than created, that the higher ups had to only resort to these angels being created and no longer bred. However, there are a couple who were bred to be like us to remain, but their numbers are limited.

Ever since we had succeeded in taking out one of the stronger devils, the angels who were unable to join looked up to us. The entire kingdom of angels looked up to us and with that, we had a lot of responsibility to uphold as well as our name. My family were guardians of mortals who were suffering and prayed to us. When I was created while the higher ups were creating this group, my mother and father wanted me to be the first one part of the group. And since then, I had to not only uphold the respect that came from my parents, but the respect that I have when it comes to saving not only mortals now, but angels as well since the devils started targeting us for our blood. While we are immortal, if they get their hands on enough of our blood, we are out of the battlefield for at least three days to recover the amount of blood we lost. However, just like how we were strong against the devils and used tools to kill them, they used tools to kill us.

They created a serum that once injected or had direct contact with our bloodstream, we'd become mortal for a short amount of time to where they could kill us. We've lost so many angels due to the creation of that serum. But just like them, we created something that will work in our favor when dealing with stronger devils such as the Immortal Killer herself. They were made from pure angelic power where if the devil was struck by it, it would drain them from the blood they ingested. It would put them to sleep because they are losing their power and then we'd drain the blood from them even more to where they become a lower class devil instead of the higher class they were considered. And I had the obligation of being promoted to that level of protection along with a few other angels I knew.

And the day we were promoted was the day we started to take out the stronger devils to where they would rarely send them out. Which meant it led us back to protecting the mortals and overseeing missions with lower level angels in the program. It was nice to calm down after a large number of strong devils were taken out, but our biggest goal was to take down the Immortal Killer. We have only seen her in passing a few times, but that was before we had the tools to confidently take her on. While the entire kingdom of angels want her dead, I want her dead for a more personal reason.

The day I was exposed to the knowledge of the serum was when my father was protecting a mortal from being attacked by a low class devil. The Immortal Killer came in with the serum on her teeth. The minute my father was left for an opening, she seized her chance, sunk her teeth into my father's neck, and the serum made contact with his blood, making him mortal. And that was how she killed my father. After learning that information, we sent out the devil hunters sparingly to ensure our numbers don't get too low. But the one thing I noticed when it came to that serum was the Immortal Killer always puts it on her teeth, to ensure a direct hit.

"Y/N!" one of my higher ups called from a cloud above me.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Gather your team. We need you."

"Who was spotted?" I stood up, opening my glowing wings and flying into the air, meeting with my superior.

"The Immortal Killer."

"She's here?"

"Yes and she just wiped out the angels that were trying to capture the other devils."

"On it," I jumped from the cloud, flying around the sky, gathering my team together.

"Angela!" I called from the sky once I had mostly everyone.

Jumping from a cloud above me, my closest friend flew beside me. All of our wings were glowing together as we flew to grab our weapons we used. Once we were prepared, we flew out to the battlefield to see the Immortal Killer already wreaked havoc. Two of our members in the group gathered them up and took them back into the sky, leaving me, Angela, and three other members.

"Do you see the Immortal Killer anywhere?" one of them asked.

"There," I pointed to see that her transformation ceased and she was back in her normal form.

I knew that the form she just transformed out of was a force to be reckoned with. I had almost lost to her in that form, but Angela was there to save me. I owe her my life for that. So seeing her return back to normal, I knew we had a chance.

"Everyone, get ready," I said and pulled back my bow.

I released my arrow and it penetrated her back. She turned her head over her shoulder to see it was us. Angela threw her spear and it hit her in the shoulder. She hovered into the air for a second before she started to fall towards the ground.

"We got her!" I yelled.

We flew over to her after she fell onto the ground. We slowly lifted her into the air and flew into the sky, heading back home to reduce her of her strength for a long time.

"Good work, Y/N," my higher up said.

"Thank you, commander."

"We have a place to put her."

We flew over to the special imprisonment we made just for the Immortal Killer. We placed her in, put handcuffs around her wrists and we left, but as I was walking out of the prison cell, I turned back to look at her. While she was the strongest devil known to man and angel-kind, there was something about her. I walked over to her, removed one of the handcuffs, and attached it to the metal bars. With both of the handcuffs on her wrists, it drained her blood much faster than just one. Why did I do this? I needed to get answers from her mostly, but I also felt something in me change the minute I saw the peaceful look on her face: a look I never thought she'd be capable of making.
