Even if I wasn't as strong as her, I dragged her into her hut before grabbing the panther and dragged it inside, avoiding an even bigger beast from coming. Once it was in the hut and I attended to Odessa's wounds, I carefully lifted her to where she was somewhat on my back. Slowly and carefully making my way towards the village, I was met with the leader who was going to lead a search party. As I emerged from the woods, they instantly noticed me coming.

"She's alive!" they called and rushed over to me.

"Someone, please! Help!"

I collapsed as I couldn't carry Odessa's dead weight on my back. They rushed over and pulled Odessa's body off of me and helped me up.

"Where have you been, Y/N?" Kiriko came rushing over.

"W-We took down the beast."

"What?" Kiriko asked.

"The Beast Hunter wasn't the threat. It was an actual beast."

"Take two steps back, Y/N," the leader said. "The Beast Hunter," he pointed to Odessa. "Wasn't the enemy?"

"No. She was trying to get rid of the beast. We finally got rid of it."

"Show me where."

"I will, but first we need to take care of Odessa."

"Sir, it's the outcast."

"We cannot give her aid," the leader said.

"Why not? Can't you put that past you?"

"Her father failed to kill the beast in the first place."

"She killed it. She gave the finishing blow."

"How do you know?"

"I was there to witness her drive her knife into the beast's chest. If you don't believe me, I will take you to where it is. But, if I take you, she gets treatment."

The leader sighed and looked over at Kiriko, "Take her to your family's hut."

"Yes, sir," she said.

A group of guys picked up Odessa and followed Kiriko to where her family's hut was.

"Show me," the leader said.

I led him back towards the clearing where we saw the panther. I explained what we were doing and the events that led to Odessa killing the panther. We reached the hut and I opened the door, revealing the dead panther on the floor, Odessa's knife still in the beast's chest. The leader picked up the dead panther and brought it back to the village.

"The rest of the men here will decide what we will do," he said. "For now, get some rest and see someone about your wounds."

"Yes, sir," I said and headed to Kiriko's hut.

I walked through the tarp that was in front of the entry way. Odessa's unmoving body was resting on a small cot. Kiriko was placing bandages all over her scratches and she was stitching up the ones that needed stitches. Her mother was ensuring that the bite on her shoulder wasn't infected before she wrapped it up. Once they finished taking care of Odessa, Kiriko came over and attended to my wounds.

"How are you holding up?" Kiriko asked.

"I-I'm fine, but how is Odessa?"

"She'll be ok. You two got banged up."

"Her more than me," I said.

"What happened?"

I told her what happened after I got lost when we went out that night a week ago. I retold the events of what happened not too long ago and Kiriko was shocked throughout the entire time when I told her that Odessa was the one hunting the beast after her father failed to kill it the first time.

"The village banished her because her father couldn't kill it?"

"Yes."

"Wow," Kiriko breathed out. "I-It really puts a new perspective on the rules we have here."

"I just hope that the leader will bring her back into the village."

"She deserves it after she gave her life to fight that beast."

"Is it ok if I stay here for the night? I want to make sure she's ok. She did the same for me when I was injured."

"Of course."

"Thank you, Kiriko."

Her mother and Kiriko checked on Odessa before they headed into another hut they owned. This was just their healing hut. I sat beside her and looked at the bandages that were all over her arms, legs, and shoulder. Carefully reaching over, I gabbed onto her hand and she began to stir slightly. She slowly opened her eyes, a smile appearing.

"Hey there," she said.

"Hey, Odessa."

"How are ya?"

"I'm fine. You're going to be fine as well."

"Well, I'm breathin', aren't I? That's a good sign."

"It's an amazing sign," I said, feeling tears forming in my eyes.

"Did I worry ya?"

"You scared the hell out of me."

A chuckle escaped her mouth, but it was replaced with a groan as she grimaced, pain overwhelming her.

"Didn't think I had an effect on someone."

"There's more than ya think," I said and laid down beside her.

She smiled and carefully wrapped her arm around me, pulling me into her side.

"I want to thank ya for helpin' me out."

"I should be thanking you. You saved me out there."

"You saved me as well," she said, looking into my eyes.

I placed my hand on her cheek and pulled her towards me, placing a light kiss to her lips. She pulled away after a few seconds and smiled, pressing her forehead against mine.

"Maybe there is a reason to come back if I'm allowed back in," she chuckled.

"If you're not allowed back in, I'll leave the village with you."

"Are ya sure, Y/N?"

"Absolutely. Besides, you can help me fight and everything."

She chuckled once more, laying her head down and closing her eyes, "I wouldn't mind havin' ya beside me."

"I can definitely get used to it," I nuzzled closer to her, falling asleep.

"Odessa Stone, from the Stone family and daughter of the great leader, you were exiled from this village because your father failed to protect this family. Seeing that you have succeeded where he failed, the leaders here thought it would be best to overlook what you have done. Not to mention you saved a very important person in this village. We hereby revoke the exile and allow you to come back into the village," the leader said.

Odessa smiled and bowed her head, "Thank you, sir. I-It's an honor to be welcomed back."

"Now some things have changed since you were last here. I think Y/N would be a perfect candidate to show you around and get you acclimated back to village life."

She looked down at me, a wide smile appearing on her face, "I'd want nothin' more."
