A/N: This is heavily inspired by Baldur's Gate 3's character Karlach. (They gave me another strong woman to fall in love with. Too bad I have to wait until September to play the game. I know it's on PC right now, but my laptop can barely handle Overwatch. I don't think it can handle Baldur's Gate.) Anyway, hope you all enjoy!
Knowing Odessa was a devil meant she would be hot headed, right? Well, she was like that for the first few interactions we had since we technically captured her. After finally getting to know her and we put down our walls we had against one another, she started to show herself for who she truly was. She was misunderstood and she feared the worst whenever she was down there with the other devils. They all saw her as a competitor for being the strongest devil that gains favor from their creator. In her eyes, she saw us capturing her as liberation from the world she had to fight literally tooth and nail for everything. She was able to show her dominance easily, but it just put an even bigger target on her back.
Once her hot headedness cooled down for a while, it was only until she interacted with other angels where she would lose control a bit. The first time I witnessed this was whenever we were walking around the market to get some fresh produce for my mother. They were all looking at her, staring and glaring at her. They whispered behind their hands while pointing at her. I could tell it bothered her because she would bare her fangs at them. I was about to reach over and grab her hand, but she pulled away from me, walking past me. I followed her to where she walked out of the market and headed back to where I lived.
"O-Odessa? Are you alright?" I asked her.
"I'm never going to belong here, Y/N. So why even bother trying to get me to change and fit in?"
"I am not asking you to change. I like you the way you are."
"The way I am?" she growled, turning towards me, her fangs baring. "The way I am, I am meant to kill your kind. I am meant to do indescribable things to the mortals that roam below us. I am meant to be a killing machine. Not someone who is docile and calm. I am meant to get angry and take out my anger by killing something or someone."
"Odessa," I reached over, trying to grab her hand.
She smacked it away from me, "Don't touch me."
"Why can't I touch you, Odessa?"
"Because," she said, turning away from me.
"That's not a good explanation."
"Because I said so."
"What is so bad about me touching you?" I asked, finally grabbing her shoulder.
As soon as I made contact with her skin, I immediately removed it. I let out a hiss as I stared down at my hand, seeing how red it was.
"That's why," Odessa said. "I burn when my emotions become too heightened."
"Even when you're sad?"
"Even when I'm sad."
"Odessa, we can learn around this," I said.
"I-I don't want to hurt you, Y/N. You're someone I care about deeply to where I don't know how to describe it. I-I don't know if it's strong enough to be called love, but it's definitely there."
"We can work this out, Odessa."
She just nodded her head, "I-I hope so."
We headed back to my house not long after and we greeted my mother. I gave her what we had gotten from the market and I headed outside to find Odessa was sitting on a cloud that overlooked most of the kingdom. Flying up to her, I landed and sat beside her. We both knew we had feelings towards one another, but I feel that she didn't want to start something was because of her not being able to touch me. And I couldn't touch her. I say screw it.
"Odessa," I said and reached over to take her hand, but she pulled it away from me.
"I-I don't want to hurt you, Y/N."
"I don't care, Odessa. I-I just want to be with you."
A soft smile appeared as she turned to face me.
"I want to be with you, too, but I-I'm afraid to hurt you."
"Even if it's intentional or unintentional, I don't mind."
"A-Are you sure?"
I nodded my head, leaning towards her, "I had been so uncertain about everything in my life. I have never been more certain about this. About you."
She chuckled softly, "Just don't hurt those pretty lips of yours. I'd hate to have that happen."
Gently, she placed the pads of her fingers on my cheek as I closed the gap between us. Our lips lightly met one another's and there was a spark of fire. I don't know if it was figurative or literal, but I wanted more. I pecked her lips over and over until I finally got the courage to slip my tongue past her lips, feeling her fangs as I tried to explore. An overwhelming sensation of heat started to bubble at my lips to where I thought blisters were going to appear.
"S-Stop. Stop," Odessa said and lightly pushed me away from her. "I-I'm sorry."
"I-It's alright, Odessa," I said.
She shook her head, "I don't want to hurt you, Y/N. Even though I do have these strong feelings towards you."
"I don't care if I get burnt."
"You won't just get burnt. You'll feel like your entire skin is melting and you will literally turn to charcoal."
"Hell of a way to die," I chuckled.
"I'm serious, Y/N."
"W-We'll figure something out, Odessa," I said.
"I doubt it, but I also hope you do."
"I was able to find a way to stunt your strength when you drank blood."
"Yeah. You do have a smart brain in there. I wouldn't put it past you to do something like that."
"I could start working on something like that."
"I just hope it works in the end."
"You're going to be helping me along the way."
"I will be?"
"Yes. I need you there to make sure that I get the skematics and everything right. I don't want to make something and believe I perfected it."
"Then how were you able to perfect the bracelet?"
"I took the make of the light whip and tweaked it a bit."
"Clever."
"Once we get this sorted out, we'll be able to hold one another. Touch each other."
"Good, because once I can, I'm fucking you until you see stars."
