20.

Susamaru screams in pain as two arms protrude from her stomach and one arm coming out of her mouth.

- Chapter 20: Together Forever -

Tanjiro drops his sword because of nausea and covers his mouth. Tamayo looks away while Yushiro stares at the scene, also displaying a disgusted face. Nezuko still kept swaying back and forth.
Blood drips from Susamaru's stomach and mouth. She whimpered in fear of what was to come next. Goku came staggering around the corner behind Tanjiro while holding his right arm in pain. He looks at Tanjiro and asks, "What's going o-" The arm that came from Susamaru's mouth brings itself to her head and crushes it completely. Goku heard the bones crushed and drops his jaw. Both Yushiro and Goku could only watch in horror at the sight. The only sounds that were heard were bones and flesh being crushed and ripped apart.

- Later -
Susamaru's eye lay in the pool of blood that was once inside her body. Her hand twitches as Tamayo couches over her body. Tamayo had a face of pity. Goku rolls his arm in hopes it could pop itself back into place. All he could get was a *snap*, which made him exhale sharply. He then rubs his shoulder and asks, "Is she dead?" Tamayo replied, "She will be momentarily. That's the curse. Her physical body will be destroyed by Kibitsuji's cells still in her body." Tanjiro collects himself and his sword before going to check on Goku. Tamayo continues, "In general, battles between demons are futile. It's pointless. Because they can't inflict fatal wounds on each other. Only sunlight and the swords of the Demon Slayers can do so." Goku waves Tanjiro off before rolling his arm again. Luckily, he was able to relocate his arm, but it still hurt like hell. Tamayo adds, "Kibutsuji alone appears to be able to destroy demon cells." Tanjiro looks down before Yushiro ran to the two with two cloths in hand. He shoved them in their faces while Tanjiro gasps. He warns in a pissed-off tone, "Don't go inhaling Lady Tamayo's spell! It's harmful to the human body! You got that?" Tanjiro nods. Tamayo called out, "Goku, Tanjiro... This demon is not one of the Twelve Kizuki," she points at the eyeball, "The Twelve Kizuki have numbers engraved on their eyeballs, but this demon doesn't have one. Most likely, the other demon isn't a member of the Twelve Kizuki, either. They're too weak." Tanjiro and Goku had different reactions. Goku was sort of excited while Tanjiro was scared. Tanjiro asks, "Too weak? At that level?" Yushiro backs up her words, "If Lady Tamayo says so, there's no mistake. Still, who knew there were such stupid demons? She physically injured Lady Tamayo. She got exactly what she deserved." Tamayo pulls a syringe out of her kimono and injects it into Susamaru's dead arm. She extracted some blood from the arm while saying, "I hope this blood will be instrumental in developing the healing serum," she stood up and places the blood-filled syringe in a box while looking toward the house, "I'm going to take care of Nezuko. Not only did I medicate her, but she also inhaled my spell inadvertently. I'm so sorry." Nezuko, who was now sleeping, sat on the ground and leaned herself against the wall, sleeping. Yushiro gasped and said, "Don't move a muscle! You two are your own now! I won't leave Lady Tamayo's side! Not even for a second!" Yushiro dashes toward the inside of the house. As the two watched Yushiro sprint off, they heard a small voice whisper, "ma... ri..." Goku says, "Huh..." The voice again says, "Mari... Mari..." Coincidentally, a Temari ball sat to the left of Tanjiro. He removes the cloth from his mouth and grabs the ball. He walks to the area of Susamaru's bloody kimono and places the ball while saying, "Here's your Mari." The small voice said, "Play with me. Play with me." Tanjiro thought, "You're just like a little kid. Even though you must've murdered mountains of people." The sun begins peeking over the horizon, causing the leaves in the trees around the to glow. Goku examines his arm and said to himself, "Yup... I think my arm's fractured." He stood up, but before he was gonna say something, he saw Susamaru's body crumble. Goku thought, "Kibutsuji... You are one despicable man. You've deceived this demon into thinking they were one of the Twelve Kizuki. This demon practically revered you and this is how you treat it? I change my mind, I'll kill you the moment I see you again." After thinking to themselves for a while, Goku finally spoke, "It's time we head inside. We might get assigned a mission soon and I need to get these wounds all healed up." Tanjiro stood up and said, "Okay." The two begin walking into the house. After entering the house, Goku calls out, "Miss Tamayo!" Tanjiro asks, "Yushiro?" The two heard Yushiro say from a cellar, "Over here! Over here! Not that you need to come at all. But if you want to, then get down here." Tamayo yells, "Yushiro!" Yushiro said, "Only joking!" Tamayo shouts to the two, "Hurry down, then, you two!" Goku said, "Oh, right." After the two had made their way down, they were greeted with a hug from Nezuko. Tamayo said, "I moved her down to the basement where the sunlight won't reach her, ahead of daybreak." Nezuko stopped hugging the two and turned to Tamayo. It confused the two as she ran toward her, arms outstretched. Nezuko then pulled her into a hug, which irritated Yushiro. He yells, "Why, you! Step away from Lady Tamayo! That's so rude!" Tamayo says, "Stop it, Yushiro. I don't mind at all." Yushiro shouts, "Yes, ma'am! You have such a kind heart, Lady Tamayo. You're too beautiful to believe!" Nezuko also turned to Yushiro and pats his head. He lets out, "Cut... that... out!" Tamayo observed and said, "She's been acting this way ever since she awoke. Do you think she's all right?" Goku walks toward the three while explaining, "Don't worry about it. She's fine. She probably thinks you're someone in our family." Yushiro pushes her arm away while warning, "Cut that out!" Tamayo asks, "Family? But I thought the spell Nezuko is under causes her to see humans as her family. Yushiro and I are demons." Yushiro pushes her arm away again as he said with a strained voice, "Cut that out!" Goku said, "But Nezuko thinks of you two as humans. That's why she tried to protect you." After Yushiro finally pushed Nezuko away, Tamayo gasped before Goku said, "At first, I wasn't a fan of the idea of Nezuko being put under a spell, but since it looks like she has a will of her own, I'm glad that-" Tamayo begins tearing up remembering the memories of her own family. Goku shouts, "Agh! I'm so sorry! Nezuko! Step away from her! You're being very rude!" Tamayo nestles her face into Nezuko's shoulder while thanking her. Yushiro looked at Tamayo and then at the brothers. After this, he also remembers being a human. Beside him, sat a cell where he was nursed inside. That memory still plays fresh every day in his mind. That was the day he was also turned into a demon. Tamayo said, "Yushiro and I will soon leave this region. We've gotten too close to Kibutsuji. We must conceal our whereabouts soon or the risk will be too great. Not to mention, even if I think I've concealed my identity, when I interact with humans as a doctor, people sometimes see through me as a demon. The young and elderly are particularly perceptive. Goku..." Goku replied, "What's up?" "Would you like us to take Nezuko in?" Yushiro gasped while Goku and Tanjiro were taken aback by the question. Yushiro shakes his head no while Tamayo said, "I can't give you a guarantee that she'll be safe, but I believe she will be much safer with us than taking her into battle." Goku puts his head down while deep in thought, "That might be true. She's right. It would be better for Nezuko to be in their care." Nezuko grips both Tanjiro and Goku's hands which took him out of their thoughts. Goku looks at the two before smiling. He also grips her hand and said to Tamayo, "Miss Tamayo, thank you so much for your concern. But... We three will be staying together. We're not going to live apart from each other. Never again." Tamayo nods before saying, "Very well. In that case, I wish you long-lasting good fortune in battle." Yushiro looks away and said, "All right. We'll be leaving after we erase all traces of ourselves. You three should get going now." Before the three now to Yushrio and Tamayo, Goku said, "Thank you, and goodbye." After bowing, he turns to Tanjiro and Nezuko and said, "Let's go." Both Nezuko and Tanjiro run up the stairs Tanjiro. Goku crosses his arms while smiling at the two. Before running off, Tamayo asks, "Goku, before you head off, may I ask what that thing is on your back?" Goku looks behind him and said, "Oh, this thing? It's hard to explain, but all I know is that I was born with it. And whenever it is grabbed by something, I would always fall weak." Now satisfied with that mystery, Tamayo bids farewell. Goku did the same and runs to the two.

- Around an Hour Later -
Goku holds his now bandaged arm as Tanjiro's crow screams from above, "South-Southeast! South-Southeast! South-Southeast! Your next location is South-Southeast!" Tanjiro said, "We heard you! We heard you, so give us a break and quiet down!" The crow flies closer to the two while Goku quickly held the straps of Nezuko's box. Tanjiro puts his hands out in defence as he says, "We got the message, so please!"

"PLEASE!"

A voice cried out. The two looked toward the source of the noise while Goku held his ears in pain. They saw the boy from Final Selection clinging to a girl while crying, "Please! Please! Please! Please marry me! I could die any day, you know! That's why I want you to marry me! So, please! Please, I'm begging you!" The girl looks uncomfortable while Goku looked toward the two and asks, "What's going on?"

Chapter 20: End.

I decided to throw away what I was doing today and finish this chapter before the weekend ends. I have a really hard class coming right up and I really hate that subject.

- A Little Secret -
Someone from inside the Corps is planning to ambush Goku and Tanjiro under a well thought-out plan that took years to start.
