The next day, the Sully siblings all crowded around their hut. Tuk peeked her head under to see her parents arguing. Koänä stood behind all of her siblings, pacing back and forth with her tail waving going from side to side. They were all nervous to hear what was happening but they all knew what was happening.
Lo'ak turned back to his sister and softly grabbed her hand, tugging her towards him and Neteyam. She wrapped an arm around Lo'ak's shoulders. The boy grabbed the hand resting on his shoulder and he squeezed it.
Koänä could hear her father trying to stay calm while her mother freaked out about what he was asking. " He's hunting us. He is targeting our family. Our daughter."
Koänä could feel all of them turn to her but she waved them off with a calm look on her face. Although she was slightly freaking out on the inside, Koänä would never let her siblings see her fear.
" You cannot ask this! The children, everything they've ever known! The forest! This is our home." Neytiri cried out in desperation, trying to somehow find a way to convince Jake to let them stay.
Koänä kissed Lo'ak on the temple before walking away from her siblings. They watched her go with frowns but understood she did not want to hear this. None of them wanted to hear it. This was their home. And just because of some sky people they were going to be forced to leave it.
" Grandmother?" Koänä gently knocked on the hut's wood. Mo'at glanced up and gestured for her to come in. Koänä sat down in front of her, looking at the ground.
" What is bothering you, my granddaughter?" Mo'at asked calmly.
" I think we may be leaving." She whispered quietly. Tears flooded in her eyes and she tried so hard to keep them back. She did not want to cry in front of Tsahìk.
Mo'at sighed, both of them sitting in silence for a moment. Her grandmother got up and grabbed a knife from a showcase she had. Koänä glanced at her as Mo'at sat down next to her granddaughter, passing the knife to her.
" I was going to wait until I passed on to Eywa or when you had become Olo'eykte to give you this," She gestured to the knife. " It was your grandfather's."
Koänä flipped the knife over while looking at it with awe. She held the knife with such delicacy.
" It is your's now." Mo'at firmly stated. Koänä twisted her neck to look at her grandmother, shock in her eyes. " I am very proud of you, Koänä. You have become a great warrior like he once was. I see him in you every single day."
" Thank you." Koänä whispered. She placed the knife on the ground before wrapping her arms around Mo'at. The grandmother froze for a moment before hugging her back, the jingles of her bracelets being the only thing heard in the tent.
Not much longer after the conversation, Koänä marched to her family's tent, noticing everyone was in there. Her parents looked at her and sighed.
" I knew someone wasn't here." Jake mumbled to himself bitterly. This was going to be the hardest person to tell about leaving.
" I know we are leaving," Koänä began. Jake and Neytiri opened their mouths to speak but she held a hand up to them. " I wish to finish my training before we go. I only have a few lessons left with J'alab."
" No."
" Jake!" Neytiri hissed at her mate. She turned to her oldest daughter, slowly walking forward. She froze all of the sudden. " Is that-"
" Yes. It was grandfather's. Grandmother told me he was a great warrior and that she sees him in me. If you saw him in me then you'd let me stay to finish my training." Koänä slightly black mailed her mother but she did not care. She was devoted to becoming an Omatikaya warrior before she had to leave her home.
" You may stay." Neytiri's answer shocked the whole family. Jake's head snapped over to her and he opened his mouth to protest. Much like her daughter did a few moments ago, she held her four fingered hand up to him. " If that is what Koänä wishes, she may. Our daughter is old enough to make these kinds of decisions for herself, Ma'Jake."
Jake stayed silent as the kids began to protest. Neytiri hissed gently at her children before turning to her daughter and nodding, a hint of a smile on her face.
" Do you wish to stay?"
" I do."
" Then you may stay."

Koänä stood with her people by the Tree of Souls. Her father was passing down his title of Ole'eyktan today. She would have a similar ceremony in a couple of days before she left.
Tarsem stood before her with her family. Mo'at began the ceremony. Koänä felt tears well up in her eyes as she saw her mother silently crying. Selfishly, Koänä was furious she would no longer get to become leader. She had trained and looked toward this her whole and for it all to be ripped away by a couple of weak sky people with guns, it crushed her. She had never felt this sort of pain before.
Tarsem let out a cry of a warrior, raising a tooth of one of the animals in Pandora, before swiping it down on her father. It made a tiny cut but it was the traditional way of turning your title over to someone new.
A path cleared for her family, people crying and some stood in shock of the events. Her family walked through the pathway. All of her family sparing glances at her as they walked. Neytiri looked at her daughter with a proud look in her tearful eyes. Koänä raised her hand to her forehead before bringing it down.
" I see you, mother." Koänä whispered to her as she passed. Neytiri gave her a small smile before continuing on, holding back her sobs.
Just like that, the Sully family were outcasts. They were no longer a part of the people. It pained all of them to no end. Like Neytiri had argued, it was all they knew. For as long as Koänä had been alive, she had been taught the ways of Omatikaya.
Her family walked to their hut one last time with Koänä following them. She exchanged hugs with all of her family, assuring them she would be with them soon enough. Jake felt himself become emotional as he gave his daughter a hug. In a way, he felt as if he was leaving her behind forever. This was her sign of maturity. She was practically an adult now, she could make her own decisions and be her own warrior. She simply did not need her father anymore. Oh how wrong he was.
Koänä helped Lo'ak get into his ikran and adjusted the saddle for him. She could not look him in the eye because if she did then she'd fold within seconds and she would go with them.
" No girls, yeah?" She teased. Lo'ak let out a small laugh and nodded. " I will see you soon, baby brother."
