Loud laughter and cursed words filled the other line. I lay on my bed and stared up at the ceiling as I waited for my best friend's rant to stop. I've been waiting for a good thirty seconds.

"Are you done?" I asked her.

"Yeah, I'm done. The bastard." she mumbled the end but I heard her. "It's a good thing Ken was there. I hope he uses his karate skills on him."

"Okay, I don't like Jackson but I don't want any violence involved."

"Maybe just ask him once?"

"No."

"Laaammeee!"

"Okay, I still have homework to do. Talk to you later."

"Ugh, homework. Bye, Gray!"

"Bye, Tee!"

I jumped off my bed and went to my study table. I took out my things and started doing my homework. It's quiet inside our home since I'm alone. Mom and dad are still at work and will be back around maybe late evening. Mom's an architect and Dad's a doctor. Sometimes it's lonely being alone in the house. There are moments where I wish we could have a meal together or maybe watch movies but I understand. It isn't all that bad. My parents made sure on their days off, we would spend some quality time. They made sure to make time for me.

Finally done with my homework, I checked the time and it was past eight in the evening. My stomach rumbled and it was time for me to make dinner. I decided to cook Carbonara. I took out all the ingredients from the cupboards. I filled the pot with water and placed it on the stove to let it boil.

I sat down and chose a movie to watch. I'm craving to watch a James Ryder movie. The movie 'Teen Rebel' caught my eye and clicked play. This was James Ryder's first movie.

I let it play while I start cooking. James Ryder's voice filled the room and it immediately put a smile on my face. Hearing his deep and husky voice makes me blush. He really has an effect on people.

After putting the pasta on the plate, I set it on the table and went to get a soda in the fridge. I settled down and started eating my food. I was so engrossed with the movie that I jumped on my seat when a hand landed on my shoulder. Looking up, I was met with dad's amused face. Mom came into the kitchen; kissing my forehead.

"You won't notice someone coming in uninvited if you're too engrossed with that movie." Dad chuckled.

I shrugged and sheepishly smiled. "You guys are early. I thought you guys would be back a little late." I went to hug them and stood up to get some food for them.

"My client rescheduled the meeting so I decided to come home early. And your dad's shift changed. He picked me up at the office." Mom replied. I placed the plated food in front of them. They thanked me and started eating.

"Your hands are pure magic just like your old man." Dad complimented me. Dad's the cook in the family. He taught me everything he knows. Cooking is our father-daughter time. We would cook and try new recipes on his days off. Sometimes we would share it with our neighbors.

"This is a delicious sweetie. Thank you for making dinner." Mom grinned while taking another bite. "So, what were you watching so seriously that you didn't notice us coming in?"

"Teen Rebel." I answered.

"Ah, now I understand." Dad nodded. "It's amazing that even after he's gone, he still has an effect on people. He would probably have made a lot more movies if he didn't die young. Poor guy."

I smiled sadly and changed the subject. "How are the kids?"

"They're fine. They miss you and can't wait for you to visit." he grinned.
