Chapter 1

"Why are you here?"

The question took him five days back.

Five days ago, the Straw hats were supposed to have returned to Water 7.

Four days ago, Roronoa Zoro got lost. Again.

Three days ago, a marine caught sight of him.

Two days ago, an unsuspecting young girl offered him a drugged onigiri.

Roronoa Zoro was captured.

One day later, he was sent to prison.

Now, his eyes met an unwavering gaze.

He stared back hard at the woman in front of him.

He was being questioned. Nonetheless, by the assistant warden.

The prison warden had already 'talked' to him. The talking consisting of mainly the man insulting pirates and their dirty ways in general, and then threatening him to put all hopes of escaping aside as the consequences would not be 'pretty'.

Like that would scare him.

So why was he in the presence of another interrogator, in an office you could even barely call one?

Was she even the assistant warden as he had assumed?

The absence of a badge or title in the name tag on her chest said otherwise. But it flashed her name-

L/N Y/N.

"Oi! Eyes up."

He bothered not to clear the misunderstanding. Instead, he gave a reply to her earlier question.

"Shouldn't you know?"

Silence ensued.

And then a whine broke out of her lips.

"The assistant warden doesn't tell me anything!!"

Oh.

So she was not the assistant warden.

Needless to say, he could not stop his left eye brow from rising up in question when she raised her head from the table she had just banged her head in, looking up at him like he would now give her an answer.

"I'm a pirate," he simply said.

She didn't break her gaze. Rather, she deadpanned.

"Of course, you're a pirate, Roronoa Zoro.  Everyone knows that. But what I'm asking is,

Why are you here?"

What now?

Did she want to smuggle some information out of him?

Was she just toying around with him?

He just continued to deadpan at the girl in front of him.

"Isn't that enough reason?"

"Not really. But ah~

Being a pirate must be exciting!"

His eyebrow twitched. Now she was making fun of him?

His expression didn't go unnoticed.

She quickly stopped grinning.

"Right! A Marine shouldn't be saying stuff like this."

At this point, Zoro was hating how he had attributed some intelligence to her before.

"So..." she spoke again. "..how did you get caught?"

He noticed how she failed miserably to hide her excitement.

Might as well get this over with.

"I was tricked. A little girl offered me an onigiri and next thing I knew, I was being transported here."

"So..." She began again.

"You did nothing wrong."

"I'm a pirate, woman. We steal, we kill, we plunder-" he paused.

Why was he even explaining why he had to be put behind bars to her?

Shouldn't that be her job??

She seemed to ponder a bit on what he said and then responded with a shrug,

"I mean... Yeah. But...

Not all pirates are bad."

Say what now?

Zoro gave up.

"Can I go now?"

"Oh! Yes. I'll escort you to your cell."

"Are you always this polite to your prisoners?" Zoro asked, standing up as well.

"Only special ones," she sent a wink his way.

Zoro deadpanned. Again.

Yep. This girl was an idiot.

And this whole prison thing might get a little tiring.
