I'd like to say most of us spent the last two days conked out; after all, it had been 2 A.M. when we had finally gone to sleep two days ago, and at that time we hadn't had sleep for days. Additionally, Headmistress McGonagall had allowed us to skip these two days of classes- which we had completely spent sleeping- and familiarize ourselves with the school- which we hadn't done. However, Percy and I both had an exceptionally fragmented sleep.

I was normally a light and alert sleeper; add that to the nightmares about Tartarus and Percy's especially frequent screaming and twisting for the last two days, and you get about 7 hours of sleep in all. The rest of our group had made a wise decision to spend the night on the floors of Nico, Leo, and Thalia's rooms- except for Piper, who had gone to her own bed in the Slytherin dorms on the basis that she could charmspeak anyone to sleep if she accidentally woke them up.

My and Percy's room had two beds. However, we only had the need for one bed; whenever Percy or I woke up hyperventilating from nightmares, the only thing that would shake us out of our trance and soothe us was the other's touch and comfort.

Percy began to thrash again, nearly hitting my nose.

"Listen, Seaweed Brain." I moved into a sitting position, never having fully fallen asleep after the last nightmare. "It's going to be alright. It's going to be alright!" I planted my hand on his forehead. His breathing started to get slower, and I smiled, thinking that the nightmare was over. I was completely wrong. His breaths suddenly became shorter and shorter again, and he panted at a faster pace than ever. I began to worry. This was longer than usual.

I picked him up and slid him into my lap.

"Breathe, Percy. Breathe." His subconscious obeyed, and his breathing slowed. He stopped thrashing. I ran my hands through his hair. "As long as we're together. As long as we're together." I whispered. Ever since Tartarus, it had sort of become our mantra- our solace, our words of comfort.

His eyes opened. I smiled and pressed my forehead to his.

"As long as we're together." I recited one last time. He shakily smiled with me. No words were needed. He placed a kiss on my forehead, and we stayed there for a moment, enjoying the peace that overtook the terror. I focused on his beautiful sea-green eyes that I loved so much. Finally, he turned over in my lap and eventually fell asleep. I eased a little backward so that I was leaning against the headboard of the bed. After about 10 minutes, I deduced that the nightmares had subsided at last. We stayed in that position for the rest of the night.

Percy was deep asleep while I gazed at the ceiling, recounting different happy and peaceful moments in my life. Occasionally I glanced down at Percy's adorable smile. The sight of him curled up and sleeping peacefully in my lap unexplainably made me smile softly, happiness filling me to the brim.

It was around noon when Percy finally woke up, rubbing his eyes and yawning widely. Once he had recovered his wits, he glanced at me with a worried expression.

"Have you been awake the whole night?" He asked.

"I'm alright- wasn't really that sleepy anyway," I lied. I'd get some sleep later. Percy looked at me, trying to see if I was lying, but I hid it well.

"You look like you've had a good sleep." I changed the subject. And it was true- the dark bags under his eyes had disappeared. He still hadn't got as much sleep as he needed, but being a demigod constantly awake and alert had reduced the amount of sleep we normally survived on.
