The Fates Hate Us. No Surprise There. (Annabeth's Perspective)

Percy sighed. "Where's Hecate when you need her?"

"Quiet!" McGonagall roared. Nobody quieted. If anything, the noise grew louder.

"Wow, that woman has a good set of lungs!" Leo commented, toying with his remote. He clicked a button, and his robot was here in a moment. A Gryffindor- I think his name was Dean- stared.

"So. Cool." His eyes were fixed on the machine. "How long did that take?"

"Shut up," Piper yelled. "Wizards," She added, "Except McGonagall."

Leo shrugged. "Ten minutes? Fifteen?" He tried to sound aloof, but he was beaming happily that someone had finally taken an interest in his work. Also, even though Piper's charmspeak was directed at the wizards, he still had a little trouble moving his mouth. Dean's eyes grew to the size of beach balls. He probably would've said something if his jaws were working. I wasn't sure if he was so awed that he was speechless or if it was Piper's charmspeak. Most likely the latter, but you couldn't deny Leo's skills.

McGonagall cleared her throat. I looked around and realized we were the only ones talking in the hall. Her expression said explain, because I'm not doing it.

"Right. Um... so, Tom Riddle- or, his soul- has found his way into the body of a deity. Basically, he now possesses a god, granting him extreme power." I sat down. That was clear enough. Harry made a strangled sort of squeak. The rest of the hall looked bewildered.

"Tom Riddle meaning Voldemort," I clarified to anyone that might not have known his real name. However, the hall stayed silent- though the wizards did look scared- spurring me into a sort of surprised stupefaction. Then I realized it was the effect of Piper's extremely powerful charmspeak.

"Should I-" Piper started, but I cut her off.

"No. It's better when they're quiet." I doled some spaghetti onto my plate and began to eat quickly.

"Really having a bad day, huh?" Percy scooched next to me and slung an arm around my waist.

"You think?" I sighed. "We get a letter from Hecate saying we have to give you to Riddle or he attacks, and then we have to fend off an attack, and because he broke the magical barrier now all the gods are watching us, and then we deal with those idiots," I gestured to the scandalized-looking trio, "and then as if the Fates haven't toyed with us enough for one day, I sink through a step and find a room with a magic glowing sword and then Hecate takes it and pulls a disappearing act again and leaves us in this mess! I mean, she's the one who told us to keep it secret, but the way it's going, we won't be able to hide it for much longer!" I stopped to take a breath and glanced around warily. I didn't say what the it was, but honestly, everyone already knew we were hiding something so it didn't hurt to confirm it out loud. I put my tired head in my hands dejectedly.

Percy nodded in understanding, not saying anything. I leaned my head on his comforting shoulder. Suddenly, redhead Ron who now had red ears too, stood up and began to make his way towards us as if thinking that advancing on us would get us to spill the secret even if he couldn't talk. The hall shifted as some students began to follow his example.

"Go back to your seats- or your dorm rooms, if you wish- and don't get up from your seats for-" Piper checked Leo's watch next to her, "fifteen minutes." She called. "Except McGonagall," She revised again, "and except for the-" she paused, searching for a word. We technically weren't exchange students, though the other students didn't know that, and she couldn't say demigods.

"Honorary Gryffindors." She decided on. Some students stood up and shuffled to the doors, but most stayed still in their seats. The Slytherin table just peacefully began to eat.
