twenty eight. i've got you brother

AMID THE TULKUN RETURN, LE'AH COULDN'T FIND LO'AK. She went around, asking if anybody had seen him. Her siblings nor Tsireya had seen the boy. Hell, Le'ah became desperate and asked Ao'nung as she wanted to experience this memorable moment with her twin brother. Yet, when nobody knew where he was, they only thought about where else he could be.

Le'ah guided the Metkayina siblings and her older brother to where Payakan and Lo'ak would meet, hiding behind the shrubs of the ocean floor. Le'ah watched joyfully as her brother seemed happy—felt happy—to be around one of the only people that seemed to understand him.

As much as it pained Le'ah to think that Lo'ak didn't dare to go up to Le'ah to speak about the loneliness he felt, yet still was knowledgeable to her knowing it, his twin sister was glad that he had someone he could go to and have an escape with. Though, when Lo'ak dived into the water, followed by Payakan, with his shrugged shoulders, Le'ah frowned and couldn't help the worry build in her chest as the Tulkun opened his mouth.

Le'ah and Neteyam glanced at each other, brows deeply furrowed as they continued to watch the interaction. Lo'ak didn't move for a second before he was swimming towards the open mouth of Payakan, and Le'ah couldn't help but curse the boy in her mind. She observed Lo'ak being fully engulfed in the Tulkun's mouth, and without him coming back out, Payakan shut his jaws. Le'ah almost gasped despite being in the water, being quick to rush forward with her brother.

The feeling of an arm gripping her made the girl halt, glancing at Ao'nung with raised brows, gazing at his sister. Tsireya signed, "stop," Yet, every instinct inside Le'ah wanted to swim forward and get Lo'ak. Spending the day with Payakan, she learned he was gentle—that he was no killer that the reef people titled him. But, as the older twin sister of Lo'ak, she couldn't help but be wary of his safety.
