MADELINE'S POV

Draco didn't sleep last night. He stayed up, pacing around his dorm, his hands gripping his hair tightly. I knew better than to bother him, he needed his space. I eventually fell asleep, hoping he would eventually as well. He never did.

Luckily there were no classes today, the first snow fall had hit last night and Dumbledore announced a snow day. I needed to find Harry and tell him what was going on. Maybe he could help find a way to fix this mess. I know Draco doesn't want me to say anything, he's terrified I will get hurt if I do but I can't sit around watching as my brother and his friends plot against Draco. And I can't watch the life get drained out of Draco either.

"Did you get any sleep last night?" I sigh, sitting up. Draco was sitting on his window seat, watching the snow fall slowly.

"No" he says coldly.

I'm worried about him. He seems to get more and more lifeless as the seconds go by.

"Draco..." I walk over to the boy, placing my hand on his shoulder. The snow looked beautiful. It looked like time was moving in slow motion. It was peaceful.

Draco looks at me, a small smirk creeping onto his pale face. "You look rather good in my quidditch sweater Potter"

I roll my eyes but a smile appears anyways. He's had a way with words from the moment we met. I also loved wearing his quidditch sweater, it smelt like him and was long on me. He's rather tall in my defense.

"Alright you flirt, get some sleep please. I should probably go find Klaus" I giggled, leaving a kiss on Draco's forehead. He was a softy in the mornings. He couldn't know I was planning on finding Harry.

Before I can turn and go, Draco grabs my wrist, pulling me into his chest as he stood up. He towered over me, holding me closely.

"I don't want to let you out of my sight" he said quietly, resting his chin on my head. I knew it would be hard to get away from him without him either following or becoming worried. I know it's only because he doesn't want me to tell Harry about the dark mark.

I feel so torn. If I tell Harry, which I must, Draco will never trust me again and he could seriously get hurt. He could be killed. But if I say nothing then Draco will also get hurt, the damage he will be forced to cause will be life changing. I want to do the right thing but nothing feels right, everything seems to have a bad side affect.

I just want to runaway with him. I want to protect him.

He isn't anything like his father but nobody will believe that. He's so hostile because he has no choice but to protect himself, if he lets people in they end up getting hurt or put into danger. I know I am in danger loving Draco.

"I'll be back later, I promise" I try to assure him but from the look on his face I can tell he's still hesitant about letting me go.

Finally, he releases my wrist and gives me a gentle peck. "Don't take off my sweater, I want everyone to know you're mine" he says into my ear before turning back towards the window. Hot.

I slip on my shoes and head out, glancing back at the blonde once more. I need to help him.

I rush towards the library, somewhere I know Harry would likely be. My thoughts were racing. I needed to get Harry off Draco's back but doing so puts everything at risk. Dark magic will take over, Draco has no choice.

However if I tell Harry the truth then Draco could potentially get hurt. Despite how badly Draco didn't want the dark mark, there is no way in Merlin's name that he and Harry would ever work together. Draco didn't trust Harry, he never will even if that's my own blood. Harry also would never trust Draco.

I rush through the corridors and into the library, which was surprisingly empty. Most students had probably gone off to Hogsmeade for the day although today is the perfect day to catch up on studies.

"Madeline!" Hermione smiles, jumping up to give me a hug. Harry rolls his eyes, barely glancing up from the spell book he had gotten from SlugHorn's class earlier in the year. He wouldn't even let me touch it. Ron's nowhere in sight, likely practicing for Quidditch.

"Hey" I smile weakly, my heart racing as I sat down with the crew.

Harry shuts the potions book, sliding it away as he looks up at me, his face was stone cold. He wasn't too thrilled seeing me grow closer to Malfoy's group.

"I hope you've got some news for us, times running" he says lowly.

I nod, looking down at the table.

"Draco doesn't have the dark mark" I lie.
