It was in the middle of the night, Mali'ki was sleeping. Occasionally she would twitch, toss and turn, but she stayed asleep.
The night guards had left, everyone was asleep except for night patrol but there was none near her cell.
As Mali'ki slept, Cassidy and Rena were dodging the soldiers left and right. The plan was to help Mali'ki escape from this place for good.
A couple of months had passed and it seemed like Mali'ki was withering away too fast. So Cassidy and Rena had enough. Once they reached to her cell, Cassidy unlocked the door and rushed inside, spooking Mali'ki awake.
"Shh and follow me" she mumbled as she grabbed ahold of Mali'ki and helped lead her out of the room.
Rena was trailing behind as they dodged soldiers left and right again.
But before they got the taste of freedom, the alarm went off. Cassidy immediately began running with Mali'ki, Rena trailed behind them and kept pushing them forward to make it to the exit.
Once they reached the exit, Cassidy threw a shawl over Mali'kis head and pushed her out of the door. "GO! Run! Be free!" Cassidy shouted as she watched Mali'ki scramble to her feet.
Mali'ki looked at Rena, "go! I'll be okay!" She shouted after her, the alarm got louder and the soldiers began rushing to capture Mali'ki again.
So Mali'ki gave them a sad goodbye smile and began running into the forest of Pandora.
Her body screamed at her for her to stop, but she kept running. The night sky covered her, the heavy rain silenced her feet, she was free at last.
She grasps her wounded, bleeding side and trudges on through the forest. She grows weary from running, weak from hunger, and is dizzy from blood loss. Heart beating faster, she plods through the grassy plains of the forest using whatever strength she has, but the loss of blood was making her wobbly. She knew that she couldn't go on for much longer but she had to try to put as much distance as she could between herself and her captors. She trudges on, growing weaker and weaker.
Finally, before her legs could give out, she leans back on a large tree and slumps down into the thick grass. Anxiously, she glances around, looking for any sign of her captors and, for once, in a very long time, breathes a jagged sigh of relief. She lays there, thoughts racing madly, her heart beats rapidly in her chest. Day time slowly peaking.
Mali'kis head explodes in a very painful headache. Her ears ring loudly with a white noise. Mali'ki shifted uncomfortably against a tree, trying to keep herself upright. The forest spins around like a globe in Mali'kis weak and tired eyes. She struggled to keep them open, knowing that her captors could be upon her at any moment. But the white noise began to grow louder in her ears until she felt like she could swim in it.
Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier until she could no longer keep them open. She slumps downward into the wet grass. Her eyes, weakly and tired, glance up at the night sky one more time before her vision fades out and she slowly drifts of into unconsciousness.
