Neteyam's POV

Me and Mali'ki finished eating and drinking, we returned back to dancing. She looked slightly distracted but she would push it away and kept dancing.

She had left after a couple of minutes, I followed behind her quietly as she walked to the spirit tree. I watched her as she connected her braid to the roots of the tree, she gasped softly as she hummed and allowed herself to be pulled into the spirit tree.

I watched behind a tree as the trees brightness shine flowed like waves, in rhythm of her heartbeat. Well a heartbeat.

I watched in amazement and wonder as she stayed rooted and her humming had softened. I slowly walked up to the tree and just stayed quiet as she disconnected her queue from the roots, she stayed kneeling and her body slumped forward.

A heavy cry leaving her lips, I walked up to her and placed my hands upon her shoulders. "Mali'ki? What is wrong?" I asked and she immediately stood up, her eyes puffy from crying, her lip quivering, her breathing heavy.

She huffed, "what are you doing here?" She asked me as she wiped away her tears, "I followed you. You looked distracted and now your crying, what did the great mother show you?" I asked her and she dismissed my question. "Don't worry about it please" she mumbled and tried walking away from me, I pulled her into a hug and she gasped at the sudden action.

I wasn't thinking. I knew she was destined to be a mated pair with Malachi, but I wanted to fight for her. To be with her. To mate and grow old with her. She wrapped her arms around my waist and just sighed softly, her breath fanning against my chest.

"Tell me what did she show you" I asked again, she sniffled, "the great mother showed me a vision.. I don't know if I should believe it, if I should tell my mother. I don't know what to do" she mumbled as she pulled away from me and looked at me with a soft gaze.

"We will tell your mother.. first thing ok?" She nodded her head and kneeled back down in front of the tree. I sat down beside her and just looked at her in complete awe. "Mali'ki, may I confess something princess?" I asked and she looked at me, "please just call me Mali'ki. But go ahead" she giggled and went back to admiring the tree of voices.

"I have a confession and I know it's probably not the best time.. especially with what Eywa had shown you, even though I don't know what she showed you but I need to get this off of my chest" I started and she looked at me with doe eyes.

I felt my nerves spike, my hands began to get clammy, my heart pounded loudly in my ears, "I know it's been rocky between us- we only know so much about each other" I stumbled over my words and Mali'ki placed her hand upon my cheek, "may I say something first before you finish?" I nodded and she sighed sharply.

"I was to be a mated pair with Malachi, but my heart does not want him. You finding me in the forest was a start of something new and fresh. Something I was hoping to see flourish and grow" she stated as she looked at me with her beautiful green eyes.

"I was afraid to let you know my feelings, to let you come near me.. to allow you to get close to me because my protective walls have started to crumble but you were so patient and kind to me" she rubbed my cheek with her thumb as her hand still rested on my cheek, "I didn't think my life could start to revolve around someone until I met you" she smiled with her beautiful fangs. I stayed quiet and let her continue, "my whole life is you. I can't breathe because I'm waiting for you. You own me. You control me, I belong to you! I choose you. I want you. I need you. Neteyam, you occupy my thoughts. My heart aches for you, your touch, your voice, your presence" she admitted and I felt so many emotions in this moment.
