Chapter 5: Act 1: (The Banquet)

A Few Months Later~~

"A banquet?" I asked my dad who was sitting on a cushion which was on a window opening while casually holding a glass of wine meanwhile I was lying down on my stomach  on the thick carpet in his room

"Yes to welcome a new king into our Kingdom" Gilgamesh replied flatly clearly not happy

"But dad you don't usually like being with another king..." I was a little worried about how he will act towards this guy

"No I don't, especially not with a king of a minor kingdom but the location itself is rather ideal so an alliance will have to do" he took a sip out of his wine before facing me

"He will also bring his son along who is around your age but his intention is clear by getting his son to marry you the king will have an opportunity to get involved with Uruk affairs and a greater place." 

'What! Marry me?!well  because I was a princess in my past life this isn't that uncommon especially during these times.' I turned my head to look at Gilgamesh but he didn't look to happy

"Are you going to make me marry him?" I dying on the inside kind of hoping he say no but since this is my dad I'm pretty sure I know his answer

"Absolutely not and not with a prince of low status" Gilgamesh almost looked offended when I asked that like he'd give his precious daughter to some boy 

"He has guts I'll give that guy that much but if he even tries to ask I'll make sure to give him an answer he won't forget." He gritted his teeth while looking understandably pissed

'While I'm happy he cares so much about me... still don't treat your guests like that!' 

"Well either way you are required to attend this banquet" that would be nice except... I didn't want to go

"But I don't want to go..." I whined a little I'd rather be doing anything else other than that 

"Do you think I want to go to this farce? But if I have to go that means you have to as well" he cocked his eyebrow up as he stared at me 

"But your the king you have to go."

"And your my daughter so you have to come with me." We both stared at each other both of us not wanting to back down

"If I say you can bring that mage with you will you come without complaint?" It was clear Gilgamesh was tired of arguing with me probably because he was up very early in the morning dealing with all sorts of matters 

"Lucas doesn't like this sort of stuff" it's true even in my past life when I invited him to my debutant ball he didn't come 

"Then order him to come"

"Does he look like the type to follow orders?"

"Why is it that he does whatever he likes even with you?" It's true, Lucas does as he pleases no matter what and for Gilgamesh he rather have someone listen to him without question, it didn't go well

'But if that's the case... why does he follow me?' He was truly a mystery but I didn't mind 

"But anyways what's the king gonna be like?" I moved my head onto his lap though the action caused him to raise a bit of an eye brow ultimately Gilgamesh didn't mind he even smiled a little 

"I don't know myself but from what I hear he seems to be like a boring king with nothing really special about him or his family although I will know for certain once I meet him." Now the wine cup done he had placed it down in favor of placing it on my head brushing my hair softly 

"Eh? You shouldn't call your future business partner that" 

"He's not a business partner he is just someone that's kingdom is in an ideal location for goods and possibly defending against other kingdoms from that direction." 

"Like a first line of defense? And a checkpoint for goods?" I asked curiously as Gilgamesh softly ran his hand through my blonde hair 

"I see your getting more knowledgeable about these things." He had a proud smirk on his face like he had just accomplished something very big

"If you keep it up you may become a very powerful queen" the words had me curious 

'Can women during these times become ruler? I mean in Obelia yea I could've but here?' I decided to ask because why not?

"Dad can I really become ruler even though I'm a girl?" I asked hoping to get a honest reply because I didn't like being lied to just to protect my own feelings but I had a feeling that this won't be a issue with Gilgamesh 

"It sometimes happen when their isn't a eligible male successor to the throne a female who has to be worthy may take over or they may guide the male successor until they are ready and give the throne up but this does not often happen." He gave me a simple break down a bit of the rules 

"So because you don't have a son does that mean I'm the only one who can take the throne." This made me a bit happy knowing that I don't have to deal with 'second in line' or any other siblings unless Gilgamesh has more kids but after what he did to the others I don't think so

"That is correct and I plan on keeping it like that." He sighed a bit before reaching down and grabbing me by my waist and lifting me up to sit on his lap

"Why? Isn't it more acceptable to have a son take the throne?"

"Why should I care about what those low lives think and if they value their lives they won't say anything." He kept a firm hand on my back to keep me from falling 

"But what about when your gone?" I felt a tinge of sadness in my heart

"Then I'm sure by that time you'll have figured everything out so don't worry to much about it and relax for now" he leaned on one of his arms to keep his head propped up

"Aww daddy..." I felt a strange warm feeling inside my chest

"Besides we more bigger problems like this prince and king." Suddenly the feeling vanished 

'Of course that's what he is stuck on... but I'm glad he cares' I smiled at him before leaning on him and looked out the window to see the people walking around all doing their jobs and some just walking around doing some shopping 

'Still why does Gilgamesh feel a lot like Claude...' I closed my eyes briefly but before I knew it I feel asleep in Gilgamesh arms...
