Everyone had agreed, that a death note should never touch the human realms soil ever again. And so, all the death kami from each pantheon came together and formed a program of sorts. The alliance of death, they called it. Together they monitored the shinigami realm, and kept the shinigami king on a tight leash. No death note could come in or go out of that realm ever again. And it worked perfectly, it'd been what? Over a decade now? And not a single hitch in the death system had occurred.

You and L had been enjoying those past few years, married and crowned as Kami. You'd watched Mello, Matt and Near grow up into fine young detectives. You'd answered the calls of witches across the world. You'd seen all the realms, travelled across the universe. It was all you could ever ask for, and the gods made for wonderful friends.

Adjusting to life in the highlands took a moment for L to settle into. He was so used to being human after all, and now he was surrounded by magic, casual polyamory, half naked beings who'd make anyone question their sexuality, prophecies and banquets. But after a few of Dionysus' wild parties he got used to it.

You'd always been the one in the relationship with more experience, having been a god for longer. Watching him grow into his godhood made you so proud, you were overjoyed to call L your husband.

Your days were spent bathing under blessed waterfalls, napping in the chambers of sleep himself lord Hypnos, spending dates among the clouds and watching humanity grow and change.

Yet another day, you found yourself lying by the rivers of pure, crystal clear water and talking with your beloved. About anything and everything, you never ran out of things to talk about with L.

Looking up at the clouds above and the golden leaves of ambrosia blowing in the wind, things were content.

"Honestly my favourite thing about witches coming to me for advice is hearing all the tea about who's dating who" you said.

"Oh I know, and hearing when someone's been dumped or cheated on so I can cast them with bad luck for breaking my devotees hearts" L replied.

"You love your devotees"

"They're so nice. All they want is to protect those they love and some advice, plus they give me cake offerings"

"I had a new mother ask me to bless their baby the other day, and they had the coolest name too. Nautica, that's such a mermaid-y name"

"Sounds like an ocean god" L replied.

You could lay about and talk like this for hours, hand in hand looking up at the sky and rambling. L would always listen, even if you were talking absolute nonsense he'd listen. He always made that effort to hear you out.

"Speaking of kids, Aph wants to see the boys at some point soon. They may have grown up but she still sees them as the kids she babysat for me all those years ago" L said.

"She'll always be loving aunty Aphrodite to them" you replied.

"I wanna see them soon as well, it's been a while. I've been watching them though, they're doing well. Carrying on the title of L better than I ever could as a mortal detective"

The boys had joined forces and succeed L, just as he'd always wanted them too. Sure Mello and Near got into spats sometimes, but they cared for each other deep down. And Matt was a good peace keeper between them, they were all working so well together. They solved cases faster than L could alone, working together was always the best option for them.

"Hellooo? I'm not interrupting anything am I?"

Ah, you knew that voice. Your favourite sleepy friend who managed to get L to sleep for once in his life. Sitting up, the two of you turned to face the gates to the garden you lay in.
