Chapter 13 | Osaka

"Pllleeeeaassseeee! Please, please, please!"

L sighed, he really didn't want to say no to her, but right now it was unfortunately what needed to be done.

"Sorry Maki, you have school. And you have literally no protection from Kiras power, I promise you can come for a day or two once we've secured the situation on the case" L replied.

Maki sighed, but she knew L was right. She really wanted to go to Osaka though, where she grew up. It'd been years since she'd last been there, having moved into Wammys in England after her parents died and she was rescued by L. She understood though, this was Kira after all, safety was of the upmost importance.

"Ok, just make it quick then! I totally have to go back to my old street and see how it's changed" she agreed.

"I'll work as fast as I can, stay out of trouble alright?" L replied.

Maki gave him a cheeky grin, trouble? That's something she knew well. She could thank Matt and Mello for that.

"No promises, but I'll make sure my grades are top notch!" She replied.

The two gave each other a tight squeeze, even though Maki was a whole teenager now L still saw her as the same cheeky 10 year old he rescued all those years ago.

"I'll have Hermes send you some snacks from Japan in the meantime" L assured.

"Ooh, get me one of those watermelon shapes ice creams. He's fast enough to deliver it before it melts, I mean he's the speedy psychopomp after all" Maki replied.

"Will do, behave yourself"

"Yeah, yeah... have fun catching Kira 2!"

L sighed, the task wasn't exactly fun but at least the investigation part of it was pretty fun for his detective mind.

"I'll come get you when there's time to wander around the city ok?" L assured.

"Thanks L" Maki smiled.

The upside to being a Kami meant no plane rides needed. You and L could simply open a rip in reality and step right through it into your destination. And that's exactly what you did. Along with Mello, Matt and Near, you and L simply grabbed some bags and stepped through the rip into a whole other country.

You needed a few days to get up a taskforce HQ, so in the meantime you contacted an old friend to stay with. And to use their backyard as a desecrate place to open that rip.

Practically the second you stepped through it, you heard a very familiar voice.

"(Y/N)!"

"ZEPH!!" You smiled.

The fellow god rushed over, practically jumping on you and pulling you into a hug.

"Ahhhh it's been so long!" She smiled.

"I know! So much to do as a Kami, and look at you! Getting engaged and everything!"

Said fiancé had practically dropped everything when she heard Zephyrs voice screaming about how their guests had arrived, and out the back door she came running. She didn't look a day over the last time you saw her, her soulmate was a goddess after all, so now she was one too.

"MISA!" You smiled.

"(Y/N)!" She replied, skipping over to join the hug.

Neither of them had their winged forms out, since they lived down here in the human realm and had to stay pretty hidden. But it was clear the two of them were Devine just from the youthful look and slight glow they had.
