A/n: well, here it is. The end of this book! Again dw, there's another L book on the way. There'll just be a lil gap between this one and that one while I get it ready.

There was always something so uniquely sweet about reunions, maybe it was the love deity in you, but you always felt compelled to cry when you witnessed one. But you held yourself together, watching Maki and Misa practically jump on each other. L kept his promise, now it was safe he'd pulled Maki through a rip to come visit her birthplace for the first time in years. And of course, see her favourite neighbour. It was wild how things worked out sometimes, the universe was so big and yet L somehow managed to meet Misa and Maki in the same lifetime in separate parts of Japan an few years apart, two people who knew each other in the past. It was one of those 'small world' moments where you forget just how big the world really is because of the fun coincidence.

"Holy crap you grew up! Look at you! L better have been treating you well" Misa smiled, the girl she once knew as a child now taller than her and a teenager.

"He has, he's basically everyone's dad back at wammys. Plus he literally saved my life from a bunch of bio terrorists" Maki replied.

"It's so good to see you again"

"You too, I missed you"

This was the last thing you had to take care of before you could leave Japan and head back to the highlands for good this time. You know, aside from the occasional visit to the human realm. A day in Osaka with Maki, Misa and each other was what you needed to wind down from the drama of the case.

"Please tell me the smoothie place is still there, you know the one on the corner of where my primary school was? I've been craving them the entire time I've been in England" Maki asked.

"They're still there alright, and they make cakes now too. Something L will probably order 70 of" Misa snickered.

That definitely caught his attention, smoothies and cakes? Count him in. It was decided very quickly thats where you'd start the day, getting some snacks and from there you could visit all the places Maki spent her childhood, and Misa her pre-debut teenage years. Last time you'd say around a cafe table with Misa, it was amid the stress of the sudden appearance of a new Kira, everything was gloomy and anxiety inducing. But now? Things felt nice, they felt calm.

"The successors are doing ok? The whole ambrosia thing worked?" Misa asked, between sips of her tropical punch smoothie.

"Yeah, they're doing great! They make great nymphs" You replied.

"I NEED to see this, tell them to come back to wammys for a bit so I can see" Maki added.

"Easy, I'm sure they'll be willing to"

L couldn't help but crack a smile watching Maki interact with you and Misa, she was all grown up. Almost an adult. When he first met her she was just a scared, sick little kid. But she was so happy and healthy now. It felt a bit like he had one last child to watch grow up in Maki, his successors already adults but Maki still had a few years of teenager in her. He had that proud dad feeling in him yet again. Something he'd had a lot of recently.

"You've got that proud dad look on your face again" Maki pointed out.

"Guess I've just grown soft over the years" L snickered.

"You totally have I mean look at you. When we met you were so monotonous and cold, you've turned into the truest depiction of a love god" Misa replied.

You pulled him close to you by wrapping an arm around his shoulders and giving him a playful squeeze.

"That's thanks to me" you teased.

"You say that like it's a joke, but it's true. You DID turn me into a god" L replied.

"I'm just that good"

"Spare me the details" Maki snickered.

You'd grown, not just physically but mentally. All of you had. L went from cold and distant to loving and kind. Misa went from obsessive and self destructive to creative and fun. Maki went from scared and alone to thriving and happy. The successors went from anxious and damaged to smart and strong. And you? You went from lonely and bored, watching the humans every so often with nothing better to do than plant roses and grant small love blessings in the Aether, to a kami with a husband and kids. One that watched the humans with a purpose, a mission to spread as much love to your followers as you could.

Kira had traumatised everyone, both Light and Mikami. The concept, the name, the actions of Kira. They'd hurt everyone involved, but twice now you'd come out on top. Evil can only triumph if good people do nothing, and L? He was a good person, one who did something. All of those involved in the case were, they working together all did something. And now Kira was bound to only be a distant memory one day, no threat or looming unease. Just a scoff in a passing conversation.

"Thank you for handling Kira again, I'd hate for someone to have ended up like me during the first case. The lives lost can't be bought back yes, but no more will be taken it ruined thanks to you two" Misa thanked.

"It's our job, no death notes on our watch" you replied.

"Ever again, the death alliance aren't letting the shinigami off so easy this time" L added.

"You know I still haven't actually seen the highlands yet, you always say 'after your studies' but come on! I'm almost done with my studies, can't we make an acceptation?" Maki asked.

Well it was definitely safe in all the realms now, so why not? She could use a break from all the smart kid studies. When you were done in Osaka, you could detour up to the highlands and show Maki around.

"Yeah ok, after today" L agreed.

"YUS! Thanks L. Best kami ever" Maki smiled.

He really was, you felt blessed just to have met him. But to be married, soulmates with past lives together too? The fates were kind to you. Repaying you for that tragic death you lost him in all those lives ago.

"Now you've got the proud look on your face (y/n)" Misa laughed.

L looked over at you, a giggle escaping him seeing Misa was right.

"I just love you" you told him.

"Yeah, yeah. I love you too" he replied, placing a gentle kiss on your lips.

"Ssiiiimmp" Maki teased.

L just rolled his eyes, typical teenager behaviour right there. But he didn't mind, if Maki was happy and healthy that's all that mattered.

He finally felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. His kids were safe, there was no longer a threat of Kira or any death notes, and he could simply enjoy life as a kami with you and his kids for the rest of eternity. He'd told you, on your wedding day that life with you would be truely ethereal, and it was. Even with the curveballs the fates threw at you here and there, L knew that as long as he had you, he was safe and loved.

In a land of gods and monsters, you were his Angel.
