Wednesday loves sugar just a little too much...
"Wednesday? Where are you, I need your help wi-"
Larissa walked into the kitchen, just in time to see her daughter turn around and hide something behind her back. Raising an eyebrow, the headmistress asked,
"What's that behind your back?"
Gulping, the girl slowly replied,
"Sugar...?"
Facepalming, Larissa sighed.
"You know there are better ways to get a sugar fix, right? Like sweets?"
"I had a craving."
The teenager crossed her arms, the only indication of her embarrassment being the slightly red tips of her ears. Making a mental note to buy a new bag of sugar, Weems replied,
"You know what? Keep it. I think I can trust you not to overindulge on sugar. Just brush your teeth!"
She called after Wednesday, who was already sprinting off to her room, sugar bag in hand.
The sugar bag was not seen for a couple of weeks, and to be honest, Larissa had almost forgotten that it even existed. Wednesday's teeth seemed fine (although, time would tell) and the replacement sugar bag hadn't moved from it's spot. It was only when the headmistress had gone in her daughters room to look for Wednesday's skirt that she had noticed a thin, black line trailing from the window, up the leg of the nightstand and into the drawer.
"But the ants are my friends, we have a connection!
"Oh? Is it your shared need of sugar," Larissa smirked, "Or because you're both small?"
Wednesday glared up at her insolent mother, loathing the fact that she had to tilt her head up so far to achieve eye contact with the woman.
"Take a wild guess. If you get it wrong, there will be consequences."
"Yes my darling girl, I'm fully aware of your so called "consequences","
She picked up the bag of sugar, grimacing as a couple of ants fell from it.
"and the ants are one of them."
Holding the bag up high, Larissa sighed as Wednesday did her best to reach for it. Scowling, Wednesday hissed,
"You said I could keep that!"
The tone change in her voice was minimal, but enough that Larissa picked up on the small indication of her incoming drop.
"You may, but in the kitchen. Besides, it's full of ants, do you really want to be eating this?"
"One word, Mom. Connection."
Huffing, Wednesday crossed her arms and turned her head away from Weems in a puny attempt at defiance."
"Besides, I'll find another way to sustain my thriving ant colony."
Weems rolled her eyes.
"I'll get you an ant farm if you promise not to keep putting the bag in your room."
Slowly turning her head back to Larissa, Wednesday's eyes widened.
"You promise?"
"I do, but you can't keep it in here."
