"Wednesday!" Enid yelled from across the quad. "Come eat with me! The school had special food for us today, isn't that cool?"
Wednesday looked up from her book, pushing herself off the pillar she was leaning against. With a curious glance she made her way over to the wolf girl. "What do you mean they have food for us? They don't normally feed the students here."
"Are you crazy? They totally do, it's just your Mama spoils you with home cooked food everyday. You can't expect every outcast here to fend for themselves, do you?"
"Every student and teacher here comes from money. I'm sure they could." Wednesday snapped her book shut, following the girl to the cafeteria. She didn't want to admit she had no idea where it was. Nope. Totally just following her.
Trailing after Enid long enough led to the canteen, where (according to Enid) there were more students than usual. They were mingling around, grabbing various different foods from tables which had been placed in strategic circles across the room.
"I eat here with Yoko and Divina every day!" Enid grinned. "Apart from the days I eat lunch with you. But usually all the food is in the actual canteen, not the seating area..."
"What are the tables for?"
"...sitting down...with your friends...? Am I- don't tell me you've never heard of a canteen?"
Ignoring her friend, Wednesday made her way over to one of the tables. She wrinkled her nose slightly at the assortment of wild berries, which looked like lingonberries, blueberries and raspberries. Some of them had been turned into jam, which students were spreading onto their toast.
"What is that?" Wednesday questioned a pan that looked untouched. There was a scoop taken out of it but was quickly found on the ground near the table. "It smells disgusting."
"Oh, I have no idea. But if it's not touched don't eat it. That means the older students know what it is and refuse to go anywhere near it."
Wednesday shrugged and grabbed a tray like she saw the other students do. Enid followed suit, loading up on things she saw. The goth girl copied her, taking up stuff she knew she would be able to eat or enjoy. When she got back around to the untouched tin of food, it looked exactly as she found it. Looking around to make sure nobody was watching, Enid turned her back to talk to her friends, Wednesday stuck her finger in the food and tried a bit.
Her eyes widened as she loaded the section of her tray with a large scoop. Enid turned around, sticking her tongue out in disgust.
"Are you really going to eat that stuff? I'm sure it totally moved on its own while you weren't looking."
Yoko rolled her eyes, "You are gross, Addams. Nobody eats that shit."
Wednesday ignored her, making her way to a stone table with nobody at it. Sitting down, she waited for Enid to join her. She pouted, her heart faltering slightly when her best friend headed over to the table with Divina, but of course she was just bringing her over to join their table.
"What on earth are you eating?" Divina asked, her eyes wide. "That looks like dog food... that a dog already ate."
"It tastes like mushrooms, so I will assume that it is. If I am wrong, do not inform me."
"Of course you like mushrooms." Enid put an arm around her friend. "Pickiest little I know..."
The gothic teenager shot her a look that said don't you dare tell Weems. She scooped up another forkful of the gunk, forcing it down with a ghost of a smile on her face. Mainly at her peers' reaction.
