Wednesday kicked her legs against the seat in front of her, humming under her breath as she watched the trees zoom by. Her caregiver tried to ignore the kicks, focusing on driving safely.

"There yet?" Wednesday asked in a sing-song voice, perking her head up to make eye contact with Weems in the rear-view mirror. The shapeshifter shook her head.

"Almost, baby. A couple more minutes."

Huffing, the little turned her attention back to outside. She'd been ill all week, and the previous day had been the first where she felt somewhat normal. Having been cooped up for days meant that she had a lot of pent-up energy which Weems was desperate to get rid of.

Pulling into the car park, she parked close to the entrance and quickly got out, unbuckling Wednesday. When she closed the door and started walking with her in her arms, the girl squirmed and whined angrily, wanting to walk on her own.

"Alright, alright, but hold my hand."

Wednesday whines but compiles, reaching her hand up to grasp Larissa's. When the gates came into view the little almost tore the caregiver's arm off, wanting to get into the playground as fast as possible.

"Woah! W, calm down the parks not going anywhere."

"But the swings will be taken!" Wednesday argued as she watched more littles rush towards them. Some went to the monkey bars but she didn't care about those. "Let's goooo."

Larissa swore she was learning too much from Enid, and not in a good manner. As much as she loved the girl, Marliyn spoiled her to where she was almost a brat. She stood fast in her spot, Wednesday moved forward but was unsuccessful in moving any further.

"We do not whine. You will get there in less than a minute, no rushing." Larissa fixed her with a look. Wednesday rolled her eyes but complied, moving closer to the tall woman. "Good. Now, when we get inside I'll find a table and you can do anything you want within reason inside the gate. Understood?"

Wednesday nodded enthusiastically, just wanting to get to a swing. There were two left and Enid taught her how to swing on her own last time, so she wanted to show her Mama what she could do.

Once inside the gate, Larissa let go of Wednesday allowing the girl to sprint to the swings. The sand kicked up behind her, leaving a cloud. Finally making it to a swing, she struggled to climb up but eventually managed.

"Mama, watch!" She shouted, her feet dangling in the air as they didn't quite reach the ground. Tugging on the chains, she propelled herself forwards, leaning backwards when needed to get enough speed. Soon enough she was swinging properly, giggling loudly as the world turned around her. "Mama!"

The shapeshifter, who was sitting on a nearby bench already watching Wednesday, grinned at her.

"Look at you, big girl! Swinging all on your own."

Her daughter squealed, swinging as high as possible. She felt like she was flying, kicking her feet against the blue background of the sky. Her caregiver looked far away as she swung back and forth, her heart racing with the adrenaline rush.

"Mama, watch me jump!"

"No, swee-"

It was too late, she couldn't stop her. She watched with horror as Wednesday's knees buckled and her head hit the sand. At first she was hopeful that her daughter was alright but when Wednesday didn't sit up, she tore off her heels, rushing to her.

"Wednesday?!" Larissa shouted, kneeling over the small girl's body. The red stain puddling under her made her heart pound faster. "Oh my god-"

Wednesday's eyes opened with a panic, she tried to sit up but was forced down by the shapeshifter.
