"I know just where to put you.."

"SLYTHERIN!"

Slytherin house stood and applauded the sorting hat's decision and I could instantly feel my father smiling down on me. I let out a sigh of relief, satisfied that I wasn't placed in Gryffindor. Anything but Gryffindor..

Professor McGonagall motioned her hand towards the right for me to claim my seat as a newly renowned Slytherin. As I walk over to the table, I'm greeted by many of my fellow housemates.

I'm seated between a blue eyed, blonde haired girl named Eleanor and a brunette, curly haired boy named Julius. I introduce myself to them and try to slow my breathing down, still processing the fact that I was placed here only moments ago.

Once the students had almost finished their meals, Professor Dumbledore makes an announcement directed toward the first year students regarding the ground rules and he introduces the teachers and staff of Hogwarts to us. I am excited to finally have my schedule as it appears on the table in front of me. Transfiguration with Professor McGonagall, Flying 101 with Madam Hooch, Potions with Professor Snape, and so on.

Apparently, Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall fast tracked my schedule. So, I am technically a seventh year student with the rest of the seventeen to eighteen year old students in Slytherin. He felt that I would do extraordinary on skipping straight to the seventh year of classes since I was already knowledgable about classes pertaining to years one to six. I was not aware that this could be done, but I won't complain since I will be in class with students my age and not the eleven and twelve year old dweebs.

After listening to Professor Dumbledore's announcements, dinner concludes and we are ushered to our rooms to prepare for our first day of classes the following morning. I make my way to the Slytherin common room, trying to ignore the whispers of other Gryffindor students, including Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. I glance over at them and they force a fake smile and Ron provides an awkward, but friendly wave my way. My gaze is fixated on the three of them and I urgently look away, and act as if I didn't notice their remarks. As I quickly turn away from the three of them, I run into someone who just appeared from behind one of the hidden corridors. I look up to see Draco Malfoy towering over me, my right hand is now resting on his hard bicep, considering I almost fell into him.

"Going somewhere, Haynes?" He asks in a rather stern tone.

"Yes actually, I'm heading to the Slytherin Common Room to get some sleep before tomorrow," I rudely reply, removing my hand off of him to cross my arms.

He looks at me as if he wants to completely devour me. It's not in a cruel or terrifying way though. It's as if he wants to get to know me. Like he wants to allow himself to get to know me, but he can't.. Whatever.

Confused, I step back and ask,"Would you like to show me the way, or shall I get lost in the castle by myself?" He smirks and replies, "Follow me, Haynes."

He makes his way down the staircase to the dungeons and I follow swiftly behind him, watching closely as he removes one of his rings from his middle finger and places it into his robe pocket. I don't really understand the half friendly gesture from him. He barely spoke at all after our introduction on the train. It was like Mattheo forced him to introduce himself to me. I really hope he snaps out of this because now that I am a Slytherin, I'm sure we will be seeing a lot of each other.

As we reach the Slytherin Common Room, I hear a rather loud noise coming from behind the common room entrance, followed by deep male laughter. Draco opens the door and I see Mattheo and a few other Slytherin boys sitting around a glass table, with what looks like a sterling silver snake with emerald green eyes as the center piece. The common room is decorated elegantly in emerald green and jet black curtains and center pieces for each of the tables. Velvet emerald green couches, sofas, and love seats are scattered around the room as well.

"Welcome home, Eden," I thought to myself.

I look all around the room, admiring the artwork and decor in the common room. "Hey gorgeous, did you hear me?" I shoot my focus to Mattheo and he's smiling ear to ear.

"Did you say something?" I ask him. He chuckles and makes his way over to me. He grabs my left hand and places a kiss upon it. "I said 'Welcome home.'"

I swear I thought I was thinking that to myself.. Did he really say that, or was it just inside my head?

I give him a flirtatious smile back and he flashes a wink at me before walking back over to the love seat. I look around for Draco and see that he is sitting in the windowsill on the far left side of the room, eating a green apple. I walk over to him and make my presence known.

"You could've saved me from him, you know."

"You don't seem like the type that needs saving, darling," he laughs under his breath.

How true of a statement that is. I smirk at his comment and let out a soft yawn. "Tired?" Draco asks. I shrug and nod. He offers to show me to the girls side of the common room and asks if I know which room I've been assigned to yet. I nod and show him my room assignment from Professor McGonagall.

"See you bright and early tomorrow morning, love," he smirks. I smile and tell him goodnight as he quietly closes the door to my room behind him.

I went to bed thinking about Draco. Maybe the Malfoys aren't so bad after all.

But I know that only time will tell with him..
