A/N: So it's been... three months? 😅 Jokes aside, I'm extremely sorry for the lack of updates. At first, it was just a lack of motivation. Then I was busy studying for my exam. But most recently, almost a month ago, my house caught fire. I'm not going to bother going into detail about it, but if you'd like to know, I posted some minor details about it on my community tab. All I'll say is that ever since, my life has been flipped upside down. I barely have any free time anymore to relax, let alone write. I didn't get to take my exam because of the situation, and I'm not longer going to college at the moment, but fingers crossed I will be in September.Anyway, before the fire, I'd made a plan that started Monday to update both my ongoing books once every two weeks. So last week, it was The Long Ride. And today is An Agent's Path, if that makes sense? I mean, technically Monday was yesterday. But I'm only like... ten minutes late! So I'm getting better at sticking to a schedule! I'm trying to juggle this for you guys, as with everything that's happened, these books are some of the only things that have stayed the same. And, I really don't want to let you guys down.
That's all I wanted to say. Again I am extremely sorry for the lack of updates, I'll try to get better and stick to this new update schedule. Until next week, enjoy this chapter! (It's unedited and crappy! Sorry 🫤)
"I'm such a letdown." Himari whines, her head leaning against the back of a locker. After her match, and unfortunate loss, I left the monitor room and texted her using my bracelet telling her to meet me in the empty room three doors down from the entrances when she gets back. Which, was a few minutes ago. When she walked through the door, saying she looked upset would be an understatement. She looked both annoyed with herself and guilty. I have an idea of why, but I'm not one hundred percent certain.
"No, you're not." I say sternly, my eyes narrowing slightly.
"How would you know?" She asks, her tone a little sour. I can only imagine why. "You weren't there." Okay, I can't exactly argue with that.
Glancing to my left, my mouth stays hung open for a brief moment as I try and figure out what to say. Eventually though, I just shrug. "Maybe not, but I saw some of what happened in the monitor room."
A snort of amusement escapes Himari as she straightens up and sits upright against the lockers instead of leaning against them. "Oh yeah? Like what."
"I saw you grow a flower really high into the sky." I say, my pitch growing a little higher at the end of my sentence.
Slowly realising it wasn't a joke and that I did actually see what happened during her match, her expression fell to a serious, one. "You we're the only one in the monitor room, right?"
I shake my head. "No. Midoriya and Uraraka were there too."
Groaning, she drags her hands down her face to emphasise her annoyance with the situation. "Great, so they saw the environment being an entire city and me being practically useless."
"Yeah, I kind of jinxed you on that." I say sheepishly, trailing off at the end of my sentence.
Himari shoots me a confused glance at my words. "How?"
"Before you went to strategize with Sato and Kirishima, I did cross my fingers that the environment would be in your favour." I say, eyeing part of the floor across the room by the doors. "And during your entire match I was just mentally cheering you on thinking "Himari's got this" and "I've learnt to never underestimate her" and "she's smarter than she looks"."
"With the way you're saying it, it sounds like you're narrating a book." She says, a hint of amusement in her tone. Huh. I thought she'd be ticked that I jinxed her.
