CHAPTER 6 - DEATH NOTE 💀

     Eric arrive home with a feeling of bitter disgust. He met his sister who had arrive from school earlier than him.
      
      "So bro, how was your first day of school ?" asked Juliet with a fruitful smile on her face.
                "Why would you care ?" He asked, noticing her new attitude differ from how she always behaves when he comes back from school.
         "Is it wrong to welcome my sweet brother ?"
    Eric rolled his eyes and said -
                 "I had a bad day at school, are you happy now ?"
        "Why, what happened ?"
                  "I'd rather not talk about it." he rudely replies walking up the stairs to his room and shutting his door.
       The next day, Leo stopped by at Eric's house.
      He knocks on the door awaiting reply.
    "Who's there" Juliet shouted inquisitively.
                "It's me, Leo !" he replied
      Unlocking the door, she said -
    "Oh Leonardo. Good morning, may I help you ?"
                 "Hi Juliet. Where's your brother ?"
     "Oh Eric " she said with a dull spirit.
                 "He had quarantine himself in his room throughout yesterday"
     Leo was appalled on hearing this, he then walks upstairs to his room.
        Knocking on his door, he yelled -
      "Eric !"
    There was no reply
     "Eric, c'mon it's me !!"
  The room door creaked open slowly.
The room was dark and had a hostile look.
         Books were scattered on his bed.
Eric was discovered at the edge of the bed, looking bedraggled.
      "Eric, is that you ?"
   Eric had his head hung down, seem to be muttering some inarticulate sounds until he noticed his friend behind him.
               "Hey, Leo" Eric said with a weak voice.
       "Are you okay bro ?"
   Eric was looked stressed out and had bloodshot eyes.
                "I'm okay, I just read some books that's all" his voice sounded exhaustively tired.
       " Have you been awake since yesterday ?"
     Leo questioned as he noticed scattered drugs and painkillers on his bed.
       "Didn't you sleep ?" He added
                   "I couldn't the demon is after me."
       "So you've been awake for over twenty hours !"
Leo packed the pills and drugs that lay scattered on his bed and emptied it in the waste bin.
        "You need to stop this, you're injuring yourself."
                      "But if i stop, the monster is gonna get me!"

"Bro, no damn monster is gonna get you." he said helping his friend off the bed and packing his books into his bag.

                       "Dress up, we need to get to school early today."

Eric had his bath and dressed up in a nike long sleeve polyester shirt.

They both left for school.

In the bus, Eric started having seizures and his eyes reddened.

         "Are you okay?" Leo asked the second time that day.

"I'm fine." he replies trying to gain himself .

        During one of his lectures, drowsiness approached him. He popped open his lunch and began sipping a hot brown liquid.

         "Is that coffee?" Leo whispers to him in the middle of class.

"Yes, I'm feeling a bit drowsy."

         "But coffee is for grown-ups, you could hurt yourself."

"I don't care."

        His body temperature increased but he was yet still drowsy.

"Why isn't this beverage working?"

   He threw the coffee away and brought out a drug from his bag with an inscription -

'Anti-drowsiness'

He turns the pack over, it reads:

'WARNING: HIGH ON STIMULANTS, EXCESSIVE DOZE MAY LEAD TO BRAIN DAMAGE.'

             "Bro, don't take those pills."

He turned a deaf ear and threw three pills in his mouth.

"Aaaaargh!"

         He dropped to the ground holding the back of his head. He felt dizzy, instantly having seizures and breathing ineadequately.

                                   "What is going on over there?" The biology teacher asked when he noticed Eric's reaction.

He started foaming in his mouth and soon he dropped to the ground lifeless.

              "Eric!" Leo called out his name.

He was rushed to the sick bay by his fellow colleagues. Leo followed them until they arrived until they arrived at the clinic and was sent back to their various classes.

"Who are you to him?" The doctor inquired before granting entry.

                  "A very close family friend."

Seated on the bed, the doctor asked -

"What happened to him?"

                 "He overdosed drugs."

He watched patiently as the doctor examines his heart beat with a stethoscope.

"Sorry to say, but your friend is gone."

                  "What!!!" Leo shouted in immense shock.

Tears rolled down his eyes as he saw his  gentle smile passed away from his lips.

"What shall you say on the untimely extinction of this glorious spirit?"

                                              He was speechless

He didn't know what to tell his sister and his relatives.

Leo couldn't still believe it.

  Eric was no more.
