Interlude: Slumber Lament Poem

...

A field of flowers.

There was sunshine. I looked for the end of the field, but it continued on forever.

There were colors. I could make them out slightly. There were reds and yellows. There were some faint tinges of blue and pink.

They blended together under the blinding sunlight.

I could feel the air on my skin. I could feel the sun on my back.

I wanted to stay here longer. I wanted to hold on to this moment.

I want to feel.

I want to smile

I want to love

But all I can do right now is live.

I can feel, but I cannot love.

I can breathe but I cannot smile.

The flowers bloom in front of my eyes. Each one shimmering and sparkling.

The wind grows stronger and I feel myself lift off the ground.

Everything spins every so slowly. Everything is moving, except for me. I am in the middle of everything. Observing.

I am a spectator in this world.

Observing everything but changing nothing.

What purpose is this life?

Red, yellow, blue, pink.

I start to separate the colors. Everything starts to refocus. I feel awake, but not complete.

The sun beams down on me. I can feel the warmth on my skin. I can feel the breeze through my hair.

I close my eyes.

Can I stay here for a while longer? I don't want to wake up.

I don't want to go back.

I just want to sleep for a while, and perhaps never wake up again.

But I know I will wake up soon...

AAAAAA

IM SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG HIATUS!

I'm a busy student and I've been getting my ass whooped by school.

I just returned to my first year of in-person school since the pandemic so I've been struggling a lot lately. My upload schedule has been impacted too unfortunately.

I am so sorry for the absence of a real chapter. Don't murder me please. I will try my best to hurry up and get back to writing.

It may take some time. Sorry folks :(

Thank you all for 123k reads. We are more than halfway through the storyline :)

Love you all! Hope everyone is doing well!
