Chapter 20

Attack

It's true that Paige is tired. He is exhausted. As much as he wants to ask Rafael about the things that he had known, there's something that is stopping him.

Maybe he is afraid. He is afraid that it's true. Takot siyang malaman na totoo iyon. Takot siyang marinig mula kay Rafael na meron nga. Takot siyang marinig na hindi iyon totoo, na maniniwala na naman siya at sa huli, maloloko na naman siya.

Paige became so weak. Humina na ngayon ang kaniyang pagdedesisyon. Masyado na siyang nag o-overthink. Hindi na niya alam kung paano timbangin ang katotohanan sa hindi. He can't tell the truth or lies around him. 

Due to the things that happened to him, he became so vulnerable that it made him anxious about what's true and which is not.

He slowly succumbs to the feeling of uncertainty. He is in a state where he would questions everything around him. That he would become suspicious of everything.

He is losing himself, in a world where reality are worsened by lies and things are manipulated by people around him.

It's as if Paige was in a chess board, in which he is just a pawn controlled by the player.

Paige smiled bitterly as he saw the city lights as they travel across Taguig. They are now leaving this place and traveling towards Makati. It has been a while since he last saw the glitters coming from light of the buildings at night.

They were both silent. Walang nagsasalita sa kanila at tahimik lamang sa loob ng kotse. Paige is looking outside while Rafael is focused on the road at the same time eyeing Paige.

Rafael tried to reach for Paige's hand that is resting on his leg but when Paige felt that, iniwas niya ang kaniyang kamay. Binawi na lamang ni Rafael ang kaniyang kamay at napalunok.

Kumunot ang kaniyang noo at napag-isip kung ano ang ginawa niyang mali upang magalit si Paige ngayon.

"Tell me what's going on, baby." Rafael initiated.

Alam ni Rafael na galit si Paige ngayon. If he wasn't, he would be so happy that he got out of his cell and would be smiling right now. But he wasn't. Instead, he feels distant to him.

"Answer me." Rafael said again when Paige didn't reply to him.

"Nothing. I'm too tired to speak for now." Saad ni Paige.

Rafael wouldn't accept that reason. Pero hinayaan niyo na lang muna na manahimik si Paige.

Lumagpas na sila ngayon sa maraming buildings. Kumunti na lamang ang mga kabahayan na kanilang nadadaanan.

"Where are we going anyway?" Tanong ni Paige.

"We'll stay at my condo tonight. Then we'll visit your home the next day." Sagot ni Rafael at tinignan si Paige sa kaniyang gilid. He is still looking outside the window.

"Okay..." Tanging saad muli ni Paige.

It's better to stay with Rafael for now. Hindi alam ni Paige kung ano ang naghihintay sa kaniya sa kanilang mansion o sa kaniyang iniwan na condo sa BGC. It is much safer to stay with Rafael, he thought.

Their silence continues as they travel. Pareho silang walang imik at parehong pinapakiramdaman ang bawat isa.

"What's that?" Saad ni Paige ng makita ang nakakasilaw na ilaw mula sa kanilang unahan.
