I could tell from the moment we sat in the car that Soph was off. She wasn't her usual chatty self and instead stared out the window the whole way to our destination.

I gently place my hand on her thigh and start rubbing my thumb up and down.

When she sends me a small smile I relax a bit. I park the car and get out to open her door and interlock our fingers.

"Ryder." She says breathlessly, looking up at our house.

I lean down and kiss her temple. "I know, baby. I know."

I take out the keys and unlock the door for her to walk in. When we finally walk into the living room, she lets out another small gasp.

She looks around our living room that is adorned by fairy lights and a few rose petals and candles. She takes a small step inside and I can see her eyes welling up with tears.

I start panicking, thinking that she doesn't like it and I'm just about to tell her that I'll clean it up when she rushes over and hugs me.

I wrap my arms tightly around her and close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of her in my arms. I hear muffled sniffles so I pull back and cup her cheeks.

"Thank you. For all this." I wipe the tear that escaped her beautiful eye and press my forehead against hers.

"It's nothing compared to what you deserve. You deserve so much more and this is all I can give you right now."

She shakes her head. "This is more than enough. I don't need anything if I can have just you."

Jesus, this woman will be the death of me.

I kiss her then lead her in the middle of the room. I reach into my pocket and pull my phone out.

I start playing a slow, romantic song and offer her my hand. "Dance with me."

The largest smile lifts onto her face and she takes my hand, placing the other one on my shoulder while I grab her waist with my left one.

"I thought you don't like to dance." Soph whispers while laying her head on my shoulder.

"There's a very few things, almost nothing, that I wouldn't do if you ask me."

She looks up with her head still laid on me. "Careful, darling. Or I might use that against you."

I lean down and kiss her until we're both breathless. "Do it. I don't mind."

I spin her around and while being turned the opposite way I get down on one knee with a racing heart and pull out the little box.

When she spins around fully, her eyes widen and her hands shoot up to cover her mouth that let out an audible gasp.

"Ry." Her voice cracks a bit and I can see her hands trembling.
