"You're quiet" the two of us were in the car driving to a new crime scene I was wearing (pic above #1)
"Just a rough night" I hadn't said anything to him all day except what was needed

Once we got back to the district, we started our assignments then jay pulled me to the kitchen halfway through "okay what's going on with you" he closed the door and crossed his arms he knew something was wrong "did I do something"
"Jay it's nothing" "yes it is otherwise you would have told me" "you really wanna know" "yes enlightened me"
"You flirting with me, we're partners, we're coworkers we can't date not even a little bit"
"And why not"
"Because in L.A I was engaged, you know that I still wear my ring, it didn't work out, he was my partner at work and at home, we did everything together, he died in my arms after a shooting, I let the bad guy get away and i covered in his blood"
"I really like you, but I can't lose you too, I can't watch you die to, so we need to stop before we get to attached, when I left Los Angeles I thought this would be a fresh start but it feels like it's the same damn thing all over again, and if something happened to you, it would be my fault"
"We'll talk to voight assign new partners after the case but I'm not going anywhere, I promise" "jay you can't promise anything because it's been broken before. My heart is broken still, he was my best friend, and I was supposed to have his back we need to keep this professional"

...later in the day....
Things took a turn for the worst, our main suspect was on the run shooting ip the building. You pulled Jay down but it was to late the bullets hit his shoulder he fell down without any cover around him everyone else was chasing the bad guy I took my shirt off and put it on jay's shoulder putting pressure to stop the bleeding
"Shots fired at the police Officer down, I repeat officer down, I need an back and an ambulance
at 8800 South BENNETT AVE" I called in my radio then looks back at jay "jay, jay stay with me, come on, don't do this to me," tears were burning in my eyes "jay, you can't leave me" he was looking at me but all the life was out of them tears formed in his eyes
Voight and Antonio ran into the building "we got him" the paramedics came running in and took jay away from me I was covered in his blood, and suddenly I was back in l.a praying that this didn't happen to me again because I think I was falling in love with Jay
I couldn't move I wouldn't, they loaded him into the ambulance I was crying and I threw up on the ground
"Brooks are you okay?" "Brooks" I wasn't responding

How I got to the hospital was a mystery to me
"Brooks you need to eat something" I had a burger and fries in front of me "no I wanna see jay"
"Erin is bringing clothes so she can change any updates on jay" "he's in surgery right now"
