The music startled Cliff.

He looked up from his table and saw that the same boy he had seen last time was near the jukebox.

Cliff got up from his seat, and walked over to the strange boy.

"You actually like them?" he asked with a mischievous look in his eyes.

The boy looked taken aback.

"What's wrong with them?"

Cliff scoffed, and shook his head.

The boy went back to the jukebox to look through more songs.

"Hey!"

Cliff brought up his hand, but let it down sheepishly.

"Yeah?" The boy asked.

"Uh, I'm Cliff," Cliff replied as he took out his hand again.

The boy shook it tentatively and let go.

"Drew," the boy said back.

"So, what brings you here to Oakwimbay?"

"Just visiting my aunt and uncle."

"Visiting, eh? Last time I saw you, you all seemed peachy keen."

"Last time?"

Cliff raised his eyebrows.

"Oh! Oh, yeah. I came in here with them and my parents. I got a brother too, but he's away at university."

Drew rested his hand on the jukebox.

"Geez. That was over a month ago. How'd you remember that?"

Cliff crossed his arms.

"It's a curse."

"Now that's more like it," Cliff said after making his own song choice on the jukebox.

He returned to Drew, who was sitting in an empty booth in the back of the diner.

Cliff slid into the seat across from him and handed him a chocolate milkshake.

"Thanks."

Drew took a tiny sip.

"So like I said, my mom and dad have been taking me to visit them every weekend since last month."

"Do you know what's happening?" Cliff asked him.

"No idea. Everyone always whispers around me. Especially when my aunt comes in the room."

"God. Total weirdsville."

Drew nodded his head in agreement.

"So they let you run free today?"

Drew picked up his chocolate milkshake to take an even longer sip.

"Mmm-hmm." He set the shake aside. "Wow, that's really good."

"No way! Are you telling me that there are no shakes where you live? Wait. Where do you live?"

"Halifax," Drew replied. "Not a lot of burgers and shakes there, though. We just have a lot of fish."

"Damn."

"This chocolate shake is really something though."

"Must be all that extra chocolate fudge in the middle."
