Naraku has nearly all the shards of the Shikon Jewel eluded by only a single shard that cannot be found anywhere in the world.

In order to locate the final shard, Naraku visits Mimisenri, a demon with ears capable of hearing all things in the world.

Kagome returns home to relax with her fairy friends but ends up busy helping her school prepare for a Cultural Festival.

Inuyasha is unable to detect the demons due to the interference of the smells of the other food but the costumes at the festival make anyone who sees him think that his ears are a costume.
