Bird catcher: Will

I see her long before she sees me, she pulls at the edge of her blouse nervously. She looks as beautiful as ever, the sun making her auburn hair look like it is glowing

Ava

She sees me and gives me a small friendly smile as I walk through the final security check before I'm allowed through

I walk towards her, a thousand different types of feelings re-surfacing at once, by the time I'm standing in front of her there are tears falling from her eyes

But this time is not like all the others because she isn't yelling at me, or telling me how much she hates me; instead she's smiling at me

''hey'' I say to her

Recalling a specific conversation with her I had many years ago, and a promise I swore to keep

''hi'' she answers

''So I just got out of prison'' I comment jovially ''and thought maybe we could grab a bite or go for a drink'' I offer

Ava is laughing now, her whole face lights up when she laughs

She remembers

Ava takes another step towards me

''Sure I've got nothing going on right now, I could use something to eat'' she responds with a huge grin on her face

Ava makes a slight move with her head indicating for me to go around the car by the passenger seat, before pressing the car clicker that she has in her hand to unlock the car, - the car in response making a sound to indicate that its unlocked.

i place my hand on the handle, just as she does too

''I told you I would remember it for next time''  i remark

catching her smile right before I lowered myself to get into the car
