Riley gave herself an hour to cry on the floor before she got her shit together and unpacked her duffle bag. She put her speaker on as loud as it could go, trying to block out her sadness. Her phone had been pinging so much that she had turned it on, do not disturb it, and threw it across her bedroom. She continued to ignore the device and instead pulled out her laptop from her bedside drawer. She logged in and jumped straight on to the Qantas website to find tickets to London.
Once her business class tickets had been booked for tomorrow afternoon, she threw on a load of washing and began packing her make-up and toilet bags.
Only when she was half packed did she sit on her bed and check her phone. She opened her messages from Oscar only because she needed to tell him she booked tickets.
Riley felt a sense of calm after talking to Oscar. It was strange how his presence had such an effect on her. They'd only known each other roughly two weeks.
Riley closed out of her messages and checked the time, 8:15pm. That gave her enough time to make dinner before she had to throw her washing into the dryer. She just whipped up a salmon bowl using leftover rice, some seaweed sheets, and some salmon and Mayo, of course.
Riley flicked on her comfort musical, Zombies, and sat down on her couch, where everything had gone to shit earlier. The meal wasn't exactly enjoyable but it did the trick and soon she was back up again, doing as much as she could to get her mind off things.
