Kat was now truly alone on the dark street, night fallen completely, and she shivered, wishing she had long sleeves. Truly, wishing she had Jove. Coming here without him now seemed like a mistake, and she realized with a start that when she didn't exit the restaurant, Jove would eventually go into it looking for her. It was as if she wasn't in control of her own thoughts, of her logic and instinct. She felt hijacked, felt as if her head had been stuffed with insulating cotton that dampened the sound of her thoughts so effectively she could no longer hear them.

She trod towards the building with regret already mounting within her, unsure where to even find the front door. She just needed to talk to Andy, that's all she needed to do. She needed to explain about Jove, explain that they were getting everything they wanted, and Andy would be satisfied, her mistakes erased once Jack and Kat were free.

For the most part, Kat thought, trying not to imagine Conner's crumbled form on the floor.

Once directly upon it, Kat realized that the main entrance of the building was slightly ajar, some source of warm light coming from within the otherwise dark building. She took a breath and pushed the door open, surprised to see Andy seated on the floor in the center of the empty cavernous room, reading by candlelight.

"Hi Kat," Andy said without looking up.

She was still in the same clothing Kat had seen her in yesterday and her hair was wild, contrasting with her calm expression.

"Got my note?"

"I have to tell you something," Kat started, stumbling over her words but finding her footing. "It's important. He agreed to everything. The solar microgrids, all of it, he said he's gonna do it."

"Oh, that's great," said Andy cooly, setting the book down and finally looking up at Kat.

Her eyes were rimmed red and beyond wild, were feral, rabid.

"And then is he gonna close Tillibenton industries?"

"What?" Kat asked. "Well, I mean, no, but,"

"Well that's what I want," said Andy, her light voice still in jarring juxtaposition with her expression. "That's what Conner wanted. We want it finished."

"He can't just do that," said Kat. "There's a lot of,"

Andy raised a finger, cutting her off.

"Or, we want him finished."

Kat processed too slowly.

"You want him finished? You want to kill him?"

"Ding ding ding," said Andy, nudging the book aside with the toe of her shoe and standing. "Right on the excess money."

"But, what would that do?" Kat asked, desperate to make her mind work faster than it was. "What would that do for us? If he died they'd just replace him, he's actually agreed to the solar microgrids, Andy, this is huge. This is what we wanted, this will make a real difference.

"So will his brains on concrete," said Andy. "That would make a difference for me."

Kat began to back up, reaching behind her with her left hand to feel for the door.

"I just came to tell you that," she said slowly, cursing internally as she remembered the taxi was gone. I'm gonna go now.

Andy laughed.

"I mean," she chuckled. "Probably not, right?" and Kat felt cold metal against her temple, a sudden presence.
