Omega stared longingly at the beautiful green mountain range stretching farther than her eyes could see behind the hexagon shaped metal bars. She imagined what it would be like to be free again. To feel the wind blowing through her hair or the sun's warm rays kissing her pale skin. Instead, she was confined to a small lonely cell. One where she could barely stand comfortably. The landscape was her only sense of reality and sadly, her only companion for hours out of the day. Omega curled closer into herself, wrapping her arms around her knees.

She hated being alone.

Since arriving at Tantiss, the clone had been subjected to grueling examinations. Hemlock promised she would be well taken care of, but she knew better than to take his word for it.

The sound of metal clicking broke Omega out of her depressing thoughts. "Hey! Time to go!" a large hand wrapped around her skinny arm, ripping her away from her seated position.

Omega swallowed hard as she took one last glimpse at the mountain range before being shoved into the circle of her trooper escorts. She didn't understand why Hemlock insisted on so many guards. It wasn't like she was in the state to escape. At least, not yet.

"Where are you taking me?" Omega asked as they walked past the series of labs she would normally be placed in for hours on end.

"Keep quiet." The trooper wedged his blaster between her shoulder blades. Omega tried to relax. She hated how her heart started racing. She needed to be brave. She closed her eyes, picturing Hunter smiling at her, telling her everything would be okay.

It usually worked.

Omega kept her gaze down as she was led down the hall of various brigs. She couldn't stand to look at the prisoners. They all looked malnourished, bruised, and lifeless. How could the empire be so cruel to other living beings? It made her sick to the stomach.

Omega was suddenly pulled to a stop by the back of her uniform. She sent a fierce glare back at the trooper responsible, but her anger quickly faded as she saw where they were stopped outside of.

"Crosshair?" Omega whispered, eyes widening.

"You have one hour." The trooper deactivated the rayshield, shoving the clone inside.

Omega stumbled, almost crashing onto the cot where her brother sat emotionlessly.

Bleak.

"Crosshair?" Omega asked, stepping toward him. "Please, say something," she pleaded. She wasn't sure if he could hear her. She knew some of the rounds of torture he went through. It was horrible. Seeing him so lost in his own mind crushed her.

"What are you doing here?" The sniper's eyes slowly met hers. They shook as he stared harshly at her.

"I-I don't know," Omega admitted sheepishly. "They just brought me here." She cautiously took another step toward him. "I'm glad to see you," she offered, hoping to gain some kind of connection with her imprisoned brother.

Crosshair huffed. "When are you leaving?"

Omega felt her heart sink in her chest. "In an hour." Did he really hate her that much?

The marksman hummed an incomprehensible response. "I told them to hide," he said after a good minute.

Omega looked at him with a confused expression. Rolling his eyes, the sniper repeated himself. "Plan 88: The seeker. They know what that means. Why didn't you go into hiding?" he snarled more than questioned.

"We wanted to come back for you! We didn't know..." Omega trailed off. They didn't know how awful the mission would end. She hadn't told him of Tech yet. How could she?

"Well, congrats on getting captured," Crosshair snipped. "Now we're both trapped here for the rest of our lives."

Omega felt a sudden surge of defiance. "No! We're going to escape...somehow."

Crosshair scoffed. "And just how are you planning on doing that, hm?"

"Because I have—"

"Faith isn't going to get us off this wretched mountain!" Crosshair shot up, towering over the girl. "They aren't coming for you or for me. Get comfortable being Hemlock's personal experiment. It's only a matter of time before he gets rid of us both." The sniper heard the small voice in his head screaming at him to get a grip on himself and be mindful that she was just a kid who unfortunately got caught up in this mess.

Omega backed away, taken aback  by his outburst. She could feel the burning sensation building up in her eyes but she refused to crack.

"I am not his experiment," she said firmly.

"Then why are you here?"

Omega slumped to the ground adjacent to the cot. "Nala Se. She's being forced to work for them."

Crosshair nodded, settling back down. "I assumed so." He closed his eyes, letting out a tired sigh.

"Crosshair?"

"What?"

There was a long pause as if the kid was mustering up the courage to ask her question.

"Were you scared of being here alone?"

"Who are you really asking?"

Omega wiped at her eyes. "I'm scared, Crosshair."

For the first time ever, Crosshair had seen the kid break. It worried him. For the longest time he wondered if it were even possible. She was no longer that vibrant and annoyingly positive kid.

"Yeah...me too."

Omega's head snapped up, meeting her brother's tired eyes. They had softened slightly in a way she had never seen them.

Just as she was about to speak, the ray shield lowered and in came the same trooper from before.

"Time's up. Back to your cell." Omega fought the urge to struggle. She finally chipped away a bit of Crosshair's tough exterior. She needed him as much as he needed her whether he cared to admit it or not.

"Please, just one more—ah!" Omega reacted to the butt of a blaster colliding into her ribcage.

Crosshair stood up but was too late as Omega was already being escorted out. He watched as she was dragged down the corridor until all he could hear was the humming of the ray shield.

He hated being alone.
