The ride to the new house was silent and tense, and I couldn't help but shift in my seat every so often, trying to relieve some of the stress that I was feeling but failing with every shift I completed.

"Are you ok?" Frederick asked and looked at me after I shifted in my seat for the tenth time in a row. He furrowed his brows and cocked his head while he looked at the road again.

I bit back a small sigh and slowly nodded, pursing my lips in annoyance. "Nervous," I said before I cleared my throat and looked out the window to see that we were surrounded by trees.

We should have a fun time flying over them, Sylias said. Maybe burn the shit down, too.

Sylias snickered when Targon said something to her, and I raised an eyebrow in question.

What did he say that made you all giggly? I asked, and I couldn't help but feel slightly jealous that she could hear our guard and not me.

Sylias snickered again, and I had a feeling that she flicked her tail a little. He advised us not to burn shit down without Frederick's permission.

I do agree with him, I said, biting back a small snort. We don't want to get into trouble with Frederick or his pack. This isn't our "home."

My mate sighed and cleared his throat while he grabbed my hand, and I couldn't help but look at him and tear my gaze off of the trees. "You'll be fine, Clove," he said and squeezed my hand, reassuringly. "No one will hurt you."

I bit back a small scoff and rolled my eyes while I scowled. "I am not worried about anyone hurting me or trying to hurt me, Frederick," I replied coldly. "I am able to protect myself and do have men that will watch my back. That doesn't include you, but I know you'll watch after me, too."

"Hmph." Frederick nodded and set his jaw. He didn't say a word while he looked around, making sure that we were safe.

It will be our home, Sylias said softly, our second home, but it will be our home.

I looked at the woods again and saw something furry in them before it disappeared, and my whole body grew tense. "Fre-"

"That is my Beta," Frederick said, interrupting me. He glanced at me from the corner of his eye before he looked at the road again. "You will meet him later." He paused and cleared his throat while he tapped on the steering wheel. "He wanted to make sure that I was safe, especially because of last night."

Last night... My whole body grew tense, and I couldn't help but shiver while I pursed my lips in annoyance.

"Clover?" Frederick asked while he looked at me from the corner of his eyes. Concern filled his eyes while he studied me, taking in account as to what happened and if I was ok. "Are you ok?" he asked softly, and I bit back a small sigh and nodded.

"I will be," I said with a small sigh before I moved a hand across my face and shook my head. "I was thinking about last night and how everything had changed in a short amount of time."

Frederick slowly nodded and set his jaw. He didn't say a word, and I had a feeling that he understood what I meant.

"It wasn't something that I was expecting to have you know so soon," I said and rubbed my face while I pursed my lips further in annoyance. Should I wear my glasses again? I silently wonder, not knowing if it would be something that I should keep doing or not.

Possibly... Sylias said slowly, listening into my thoughts. She shifted a little, and I could tell that she was nervous as well. You might want to start covering up your scent again, too, until I am able to train you how to do it naturally.
