Chapter 46: Cousin?

As they're walking onto the train, Neville turns to Luna, "So, you said we're going to see your cousin?".

She smiles and nods, "Mhm. That's right".

Lilith turns to her, "I didn't think your parents had any siblings. Who are they?".

Luna stops and turns around, hands behind her back, "I'm shocked, my friend. I never thought I would see the day when you would forget your own best friend, Lilith".

She turns back around and walks down the hallway towards the cabin, leaving the other three to just stare at her in shock.

Blaise leans down to Lilith and whispers, "Did you know about that?".

She shakes her head slowly, "Draco's about to get an earful, though".

They make their way to the cabin, where Draco and Luna are already sitting and conversing with each other.

Lilith opens the compartment door and turns to Luna, "I'm sorry, I think I missed something". She points to Draco, "You're his cousin?".

Draco shoots his head towards Luna, "What?".

She nods, "Yes, he is".

Lilith turns her head to Draco, "And why didn't you inform me of this?".

Blaise quickly pulls Neville into his chest and steps back a little.

Draco stutters, "L-lia, I swear I...I have n-no idea what's she t-talking about".

Luna tilts her head, "You're father never told you?".

He looks at her confused, "Told me what?".

Lilith walks into the compartment and sits next to Draco, Blaise and Neville following and closing the door behind them.

Luna leans forward, "Does your father have any brothers, Draco?".

He shakes his head, "No he doesn't have any siblings".

She tilts her head, "Are you sure?".

He squints his eyes, "Yes....?".

Luna sighs, "Draco, your father actually did have a sibling, He had a brother about five years younger than him named Xenophilius".

Lilith asks, "As in your father, Xenophilius Lovegood?".

Luna nods, "He was disowned when he went against the family, against the Malfoy name. The nail in the coffin was when he took my mother's last name instead of her taking his". She makes eye contact with Draco, "Your grandfather believed that my mother was a blood traitor and cast my father aside for standing with her".

Neville gasps, "That's awful. I'm so sorry that happened to your family, Luna".

Draco leans back, "Hang on...surely my father knew he had a baby brother. Even if he was disowned".

She looks down slightly, "We have reason to believe that Abraxas Malfoy wiped the memory of his family so they had no way of associating with my father".

Draco sighs and leans back fully on the chair. Lilith grabs his hand and intertwines their fingers together as the train pulls out of the station and heads towards Hogwarts.

"I knew my grandfather wasn't a good man but...I would never imagine anyone going to such lengths to distance his own son".

Lilith grasps his hand, "Hopefully my dad knows something about this. Our parents are best friends so surely Uncle Lucius would have mentioned a brother at some point to him".

Blaise nods, "Then we go to your grandfather, Lil. If there's anyone who can get Mr Malfoy's memories back...it'll be him".

Neville nods, "Exactly. Then maybe your fathers can reconnect and you two can be proper cousins".

Luna smiles, "I would like that".

Draco smiles back, "So would I".

Hello Hello! 

I apologise (again) for the lack of updates. Right after the last chapter is when we got accepted into the new house and have been spending the last few weeks moving. We also didn't have internet for almost 2 weeks but we do now! 

Also, my recovery is going really well. I've been off my pain meds for a few weeks and my surgical team is really happy with my progress. 

Updates will continue now that everything is settled down.
