"I didn't know they wouldn't appreciate my singing!" Charlie exclaimed. "It's the easiest way to express myself!" Vaggie stared at her blankly & smiled. "I enjoy your singing. We just have to find another way to get your point across, babe."

An odd feeling came over me, making itself comfortable in my stomach. Jealousy... Not towards Vaggie or Charlie in particular. Jealousy because I wanted someone that understood me the way they understood each other.

"Always with tha' singin..." Angel muttered, taking a sip of his drink. "No wonder this place is still empty. Besides kitty, smiles, & Niffty.. & the goody two shoes."

"I like the singing," I chimed in, ignoring his comment. Sitting my elbow on the bar, I put my face in my hand & stared at Angel. "Of course you do," He rolled his eyes.

Charlie & Vaggie had just gotten back & instead of socializing, they ended up going upstairs to get ready for bed, leaving Angel, Husk, & myself alone downstairs. I'm assuming the promo didn't go too well considering we didn't have sinners banging at the doors begging for help to achieve redemption.

"Refill?" Husk's question pulled me from my thoughts. I gave a small smile & nod before he refilled my small glass with water. "A million options back there & you always get water," Angel grinned. "Let loose a little."

"I can't," I replied. "I'm not sure if I can handle alcohol."

"Alcohol ain't a sin," Angel continued. "An' if it is.. that means I ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon." He punctuated his words with another sip of his drink.

Maybe he was right. Drinking probably wasn't a true sin. I sat with his words for a moment before looking to Husk. "Maybe I'll have something small.." I said softly. "Like a good wine! Ooh, or maybe champagne!"

Husk laughed. He rarely ever laughed. "Whisky or scotch? We don't have any of those girly drinks."

I folded my hands in front of me & placed them on the bar. "One whisky, please." I smiled. Husk prepared a small glass with ice & poured the brown liquid over top, sliding it across the counter towards me. I hesitantly picked it up, giving a sniff & immediately regretted it. It burned my nose & I could feel the burn deep in my throat.

"You willingly drink this?" I raised an eyebrow at Angel. He shrugged.

Looking to Husk for some sort of reassurance, he also shrugged in response. I stared at the small glass, the caramel colored liquid swirling around the ice cubes. Angel & Husk both stared with anticipation.

I grabbed the glass & took a small sip. It wasn't really bad, but it wasn't good either. I sucked my teeth, placing the glass gently back on the bar. "*cough*"pussy*cough*" I shot Angel a glare. He smiled widely, gesturing back at the glass.

I internally sighed & took the glass once more, this time holding my breath & drinking all of it. It still tasted bad & burned, but I figured it was easier to get it over with quickly.

"There ya go, you got it," Angel encouraged. "Now try about 8 more."

I licked my lips, the whisky leaving a strong aftertaste in my mouth. I didn't understand how Angel drank every night.

"Ya know," Angel's words slurred. "I never knew you had it in ya', I really thought you were little miss perfect. Always tryna' be a little saint."

I giggled, "No way, I want to do right by Charlie but I'm definitely not perfect." A small breeze blew through, rustling the hedges in the garden behind the hotel. It sent a chill down my spine. Who knew hell could actually be cold? I didn't really feel that cold though. The alcohol made my stomach warm & made me not feel much of anything else. I laid back on the grass, looking up at the deep red sky. My mind wandering with so many thoughts.
