At the castle, it was patrol time for at least a couple clan members. Goliath had assigned Brooklyn and Lexington to go out on patrol tonight together, and they were perfectly fine together. Brooklyn was anxious to get out and do something anyway.
The two of them were patrolling a little close to Gen-U-Tech on this night. They hadn't seen anything suspicious up until this point. Then, all of a sudden, some movement in an alley caught their attention.
"Hey, look." Lex pointed out. "What's that?"
Brooklyn looked too. The figure looked small, but he didn't recognize it right off the top of his head. "Let's check it out." The red one declared in a firm voice. They started descending.
The creature in the alley suddenly heard something from above despite hearing car horns and sirens from the city. He looked up and saw some creatures coming down at him and he backed up. He was in a dead-end alley anyway. He gasped and backed away.
Brooklyn and Lexington landed on the ground to see what they were dealing with. When they got a proper look at the creature in front of them, their eyes immediately lit up. The creature looked somewhat familiar.
"Get away from me!" The creature exclaimed, sounding like a kid's voice. It was clearly scared.
"No, don't be afraid, little guy. We won't hurt you." Brooklyn stepped forward, speaking gently.
Then, there were sirens heard from behind them. "Great." Lex stated. "He must be being tracked." Lex figured. "Come here, little guy. Those guys are bad news." He tried his luck with the kid.
"Stay away! Those guys want to hurt me!"
"We'll protect you from them." Brooklyn declared. "But you have to come here first, little guy."
The young Skeksis saw that these creatures were different. "What are you?" he asked fearfully.
"We're gargoyles." Lex replied. "Protectors of this city."
"Don't let them get me!" Chamberlain screeched. He was cowering down. Men were now getting out of the trucks armed with tranq guns.
"There it is, but it's not alone?" One of the men asked.
"Don't you see? It's run into some of the gargoyles!" Bruno said disgustedly.
"Great. That's the last thing we need to get the little monster back!" Another man exclaimed. Then they started shooting.
Brook and Lex heard that. "Come here, Kid." Brook blurted out and they began to run forward when the men started shooting. It shocked the little Skeksis and the big red one scooped him up before jumping behind a dumpster.
Brooklyn then remembered back when he dealt with Maggie like this for the first time and he remembered pulling the wrist tracker off her wrist when he grabbed her. He knew it was Gen-U-Tech people this time, and he quickly searched for a tracker on the small creature.
"Ah! Let go of me!" The kid shrieked.
"Listen, Kid, you gotta hold still. We won't let them get you again." Brooklyn said gently. He looked on the kid's arms and found a wrist tracker on one of his upper arms. "Lex, get this off of him!"
Lex saw what his brother was talking about, and he quickly grabbed it and pulled it off. "There, now they can't get you back." Lex declared.
Chamberlain looked down at the device. "What is that?" he asked.
"It's how they track you down." Lex replied. "But now, we've got to get out of here."
The two of them knew there was a risk of getting darted, but they were going to save this kid. They both then quickly jumped onto the dumpster and took to the air again. The kid in Brooklyn's arms screamed at being lifted off the ground so suddenly, as he had never done that.
