Some of you may read this chapter and call me weak. When I look back on this I see myself as desperate. I'm just thankful I wasn't alone. I was never really alone after that day.

The thing people need to learn about good, is that it doesn't always win, and it doesn't always do the right thing.

Time and time again good will screw up, I've had my fair share of screw ups. But the thing that separates good from evil is that tiny bit of love. Some people love things, some love other people and yet some love both. One thing they all have in common, is that they are all worth fighting for.

I turned up to work the next day, knowing Tony wouldn't turn in. I just needed to grab a few things and that was it, hopefully no one would see me. Nat and I have been meeting on a weekly basis, talking about our next move. We don't decide whether to track the USB or to wait and formulate a better plan. The USB lives safely in my top draw in my bedroom at Sam's.

As i looked over to my right I could see a scruffy looking blonde man standing in the elevator. It was Steve. I would know those eyes anywhere. He was surrounded by what looked like ten different agents....that couldn't be good for him. He was outnumbered. Without thinking I turned to the lift and ran.

"Hold the doors" I yelled. The Steve reached over the new comers and held the doors back for me to jump in.

"Thanks" I pant, pushing my way into the lift.

"Don't mention it" he says, a soft smile playing at his lips. The doors closed and the lift began to rise. Everyone was silent. Suddenly I could hear a small click. I looked down to see a man drawing a electrified charged baton.

"Now before we get started, does anybody want to get out?" The Steve asks coldly, looking around. Without warning the man with the baton turned. I raised my leg and kicked him three times in three very tender places. He fell to the ground.

"Thanks" the he shouted, he was taking three on at once compared to my 'one at a time' strategy. One of The men had cuffed one of his hands with a polar magnet was was slowly forcing it upwards. If that magnet ever attached itself to that bar of the elevator...there would be almost no help in getting it down. The other two were busy jabbing him with electrified batons. I flicked up a round disc lying on the ground and threw it at him. He caught it and used it to smash the cuff and knock out two more men.

"Don't mention it" I pant, Turning to my next attacker. Only i was too slow. He cuffed my good fighting hand with a cuff and forced it up. The magnet stuck to the elevator and I was stuck. There was no way I was strong enough to pull it down. Three more men advanced. I jumped up, kicking them in the face. Suddenly I felt something heavy resting over my heart. It was a gun.

"Drop the Shield Cap" the man warned. Steve turned, the one with the gun was the last man standing.

"Or what?" He asked, though we both knew what would happen if he refused.

"Or I'll pull the trigger" the man warned. I looked at the him, my life was in his hands. Steve dropped the shield and raised his hands in surrender. I let out a scream of pain as the man pressed the trigger, the bullet going in just above my heart. I could see the blood staining my white shirt. Steve's eyes filled with rage as he kicked up the shield and threw it at my hand, breaking the cuff. I fell to the ground, resting my hand on my wound. The blonde knocked out the man and it was just us.

"Are you okay?" He asked. In response a fell onto my side. He dropped the shield and ran to me.

"I'm going to find you some help okay?" He comforted, resting my head on his lap and stroking my hair. I nodded. "Em, can you hear me?" He asked, trying to take my mind off the pain.

"Emily Stark" I muttered, repeating my name. He smiled, tears in his eyes and nodded.

"Stay with me" he begged. I squeezed his hand only to see when I let go that it was covered with blood. I began to freak out again, the pain coming back. Steve got up and forced the doors to the lift open. I heard him cuss under his breath and slam them closed again.

"Em, Do you trust me?" He asked. I nodded. He picked me up bridal style and retreated to the corner of the lift. He readied his shield and jumped, smashing the glass. We were falling too fast for comfort. I felt his grip around me tighten as we fell. Finally as we got close to the ground, he moved me out of the way, so his arm took the blow of the fall. He then scooped me up and continued to run the the garage. He grabbed a bike and rested me on it, then sitting behind me and wrapping his arms around me.

"I've got you" he comforted. I nodded and he started up the bike, jumping between the closing doors. I felt the bike rev up as a hovercraft came In front of us.

"Stand down Captain Rogers" a loud voice boomed.

"Not a chance" Steve muttered. I stared in horror as the plane began to shoot at us. Soon I would be hit. Steve dodged and weaved past the bullets. I gasped a little as he dodged the row of bullets.

"Close your eyes" Steve warned. I closed them and felt him throw me off the bike as gently as he could. It didn't stop me from yelping in pain as I tumbled along the hard road. At one point I fell hard on my wound. I screamed and blacked out for a moment. Suddenly he was there. He was standing between me and the plane and was shielding me from the blow.

"Thanks" I mutter. He turns and gives me a friendly smile.

"Don't mention it" he says. Then his smile drops as he sees the cuts and blood covering me. I look at my bullet wound....my shirt was absorbing all the blood. He then picked me up bridal style once again and carried me to the hospital where he laid me down.

"We need a doctor" he yelled. In half a second there was three doctors by my side and carrying me off.

"Don't go" I begged clinging onto his hand. He smiled and squeezed my hand gently.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'll be seeing you soon" he said. I smiled, closed my eyes and let go.

"You better be" I muttered before blacking out.
