the dimly lit sky had an orange color that evening as the sun began to step away and leave room for the moon to shine, the fluffy-looking clouds turning a golden shade that reflected the disappearing sunlight while many hurried towards their houses before the darkness enveloped the busy city. yet, there was one person that didn't seem to leave his work place soon, his gaze fixated on the bright screen of his computer that reflected on the lenses of his glasses while his hands busily typed on the keyboard in front of him.
the knock on the wooden door of his office passed ignored by his ears, his eyes darting back and forth to the displayer and his hands before the sound of an exasperated sigh caught his attention, diverting his gaze to figure standing in front of him for a split second before focusing back on the email he was writing down.
"sunghoon, how long have you been glued to that computer today?" the familiar voice that he recognized as his mother's questioned him worriedly, approaching one of the leather chairs in front of his desk and taking a seat before letting out a deep breath at her son's conditions.
his usually puppy-like, tapioca pearl eyes were half lidded and displayed purple-ish, craved, eyebags right under his lower eyelids, his usually plump, naturally tinted lips now chapped and discolored from the lack of water he had limited his body of while his fluffy, raven, bouncy hair that were typically neatly styled were messed up.
park sunghoon finally detached his irises from his screen and rested his tired back on the comfortable office chair he was seated on, taking off his glasses and tossing them on a pile of documents resting on his desk before fluttering his eyelids closed and feeling a sudden rush of tiredness invade his body. "i don't know, probably ten or eleven? i lose track of time after a while." despite his closed eyes, sunghoon could perfectly picture the expression that twisted his mother's familiar features easily recognizable in his own, a hand placed on the left part of her chest as if his words almost gave her a heart attack.
"sunghoon, it's not healthy to be so restless right before your wedding, especially when you shouldbe making time out of your schedule to pack your things since you need to move into your new house soon." the man let out a sigh of annoyance and frustration at the reminder of his upcoming wedding, pinching the skin between his eyes with a frowning expression.
if there was one thing he did not want to be reminded of, it definitely had to be the wedding scheduled for the next months with a girl he barely even knows, all because his father refuses to step down as the ceo and leave the position to him unless he gets married to somebody, whether it's by love or not. but considering how sunghoon is constantly confined inside his office, his parents doubted he had a special someone he would get married to.
"i already told you i don't want to get married to thatspoiled brat, mom, and anyway it'll end up in divorce because her ego cannot stand not receiving enough attention every second of the day." mrs.park massaged her temples in frustration at the boy's complaints before she stood from her chair and looked sternly into his dead eyes, the raven not feeling threatened at all as he just stared back at his mother with a soulless expression.
"listen park sunghoon, i don't wanna hear any of your complaints anymore. if youwant that position so badly this is the condition you have to accept. otherwise, you're leaving me no choice but to make your cousin the heir." and with that, the woman in her mid fifties took her leave from his dark office while sunghoon couldn't help but groan at her words. he can't let his cousin replace him, not when he's so close to finally earning everything he worked so hard for.
he turned his swivel chair towards the glass wall behind him that gave him the perfect view of the entire city, gazing at the sight for a while and then diverting his focus on the coat hooking from a coat hanger. sunghoon reflected on it for a second before shutting his computer and quickly grabbing the jacket.
he needs to clear his mind and take some stress off his shoulders, and what's better than a drink in an empty bar late at night?
"a bottle ofsoju please." the park sat by counter and immediately began sipping on the slightly sweet, alcoholic drink the bartender handed out to him, his mind flooded with thoughts about the situation he currently found himself in and how to possibly get out of it. there is no way he's getting married to the daughter of a disgustingly rich family that has always walked on laurel leaves and doesn't know anything other than her dad's money.
"what is someone good-looking like you doing all alone in a bar so late at night?" a soft, honey voice snapped him out of his thoughts while he turned his head towards the direction of the sound, his eyes meeting with a girl seated near him with an almost empty glass in her hands.
her slightly round cheeks were a crimson tint, her lips plump and pink-ish while her half-lidded eyes were doe and dark, adorned by a light shade of glittery eyeshadow letting her eyelids shine and her nose small and button with an hint of highlighter on it. her hair were brown and silky, not longer than past her shoulder and layered into a wolf cut as two shorter pieces framed her face perfectly. her torso was hugged by a white off shoulder sweater paired with a black miniskirt.
to be fair, sunghoon should be the one asking her such a question. she looks like she just fell from heaven, he swore he has never seen someone so jaw-dropping look good even in dim lights late at night.
"i should be the one asking you that." the girl smiled at his compliment, tucking a strand of her chocolate strands behind her ear and thanking him shyly which almost threatened a grin to crack his intimidating features. how can someone be this pretty even while smiling?
god, sunghoon feels like laughing at his own thoughts.
"why don't we go to my place so i won't be all alone anymore then?"
