walking down the busy, enormous yet quiet hall of the company's building with a radiant aura, hari plastered a bright smile on her pink-ish, full lips while heading towards the elevator as some wind brushed through her silky strands.
she stopped behind two employees that were waiting for the elevator as well, fixing her sweater before halting on her actions once she heard what the two girls standing before her were talking about. "how come you haven't heard? everyone knows about this rumor. an employee and the president got married." the girl felt like her body turned into a rock from how tense it was, ears now perked up to listen to their conversation that was clearly about her.
"and according to the rumors, she's also pregnant. to be honest, i suspect that new girl, especially since she's always missing when the president is as well." her hand subconsciously traveled to the small bump that peeked through her skirt and immediately attempted to cover it with her bag, already regretting her decision of wearing something that made her pregnancy so evident now that rumors have started to circulate around the company. she doesn't even want to imagine what would happen if anyone found out that she married the future ceo.
she doesn't want to be treated any different just because she's the wife of the president, whether it's good or bad, and now she would very much rather hide her pregnancy for as long as she can rather than announce it so early.
one of the employees suddenly shifted towards her direction with an insincere smile cracking her lips, signaling her friend to watch the scene which made hari gulp her saliva nervously. "ms.cha, by any chance, are you pregnant?" her eyes diverted to the noticeable bump she desperately tried to hide, her doe eyes widening slightly before she attempted to cover her panicked expression with a smile while cold sweats dampened her forehead.
"oh that.. no no, i-i just gained weight." the other girl smirked and glancing at the stairs not so far from where they were standing, hari instantly understanding what she meant with that gaze that made her gut twist. "then, you won't mind taking the stairs right? you know, to lose some of that weight you gained."
hari really needs to learn how to put people in their place.
if she knew how, she wouldn't be climbing countless flights of stairs with an aching back and swollen feet, holding her weight by the railings while swearing that she will never have another child again. she hopes sunghoon won't want more kids because she isn't going through this again.
"hari! what the hell are you doing here?" his familiar, honey voice could be heard from a few floors below her as his quick steps echoed through the immediate space, rapidly reaching her slow figure before stopping her from going further up by standing in front of her and crossing his arms over his chest.
"explain to me why the fuck were you climbing thirty-seven flights of stairs when you know that too much physical activity isn't good for you." his tone was harsh but there was care and worry behind it, his eyes soft as he glanced at her exhausted face that displayed a small pout while her forehead shined in sweat and her chest heaved up and down rapidly.
"how did you even know i was here?"
"two girls told me when i was looking for you since i noticed you didn't clock in. now tell me, why did you not take the elevator?" hari heaved out a deep sigh trying to steady her breathing, clearing her dry throat before looking at her feet to avoid meeting eyes with his tapioca pearl ones.
"two employees suspected i was pregnant, so i told them i just gained weight, and they told me i should take the stairs to lose it." saying sunghoon was fuming in rage was an understatement, he might explode any moment by now by how high his blood is boiling and he swears that if they were in a cartoon there would be smoke coming out of his ears. who do they even think they are to tell her that? and either way, pregnant or not, telling her to bluntly lose weight when they probably don't look half like hari is quite hypocritical.
"just tell me what they look like and i'll get them fired immediately. now, go back inside and take the elevator, and don't force me to come with you."
